This jacket stands out for the coin pocket. I was surprised to see it. I found another in my archieve, but has a older zipper.

This has the craziest lining! I assume an original choice?

This jacket is from the early 1950s. Has a 50s zipper.

This is the only catalog that Ralphs-Pugh company could find. They sent me this picture a few years back. The above jacket is pictured here.

The jacket below on the left is the Patrol jacket pictured in the catalog. The two behind it are older, 40s motorcycle jacket with no coin pocket.

That jacket is owned by a friend of mine. Saw it in person last time I went and bought jackets from him. As you can expect from Ralphs Pugh, the quality is…top notch ;)

Looks awfully similar in design and shape to the early Durables.

This didn’t occur to me last time I was at his place. I plan on making a trip up to him soon. I want to see about this pattern.

Is that quilted lining cotton? The colors make me think of Madras plaid.

I don't know the answer on this lining. Never seen anything on any jacket like it. At the time this was made, they were probably custom ordered. The catalog only shows 4 models. This was near the end of leather jacket production for the company. Probably too much competition in the 50s to sustain them. The conveyer belt business was a better business decision.

Anyone that is interested in vintage leather jackets needs to read this thread. This thread confirms the companies place in history as one of the premier makers of leather jackets.

After re-reading this thread I

Crown them King! (at least in my realm)

Most makers can come up with at least one outstanding design in their history. Look through this thread and tell me who compares? Trojan, Block, CSC, Schott, Roughwear, Levi, (I have a strong suspicion they make jacket with the Levi label) Seattle Woolen.

My eye tells me no one compares.

And now they manufacture conveyor belt parts.

Got this Ralphs Pugh in a few days ago from the bay. Never seen one like it.

Wow and Wow! This will fit you? It sure fits in as another member of the Top Notch club. It was an incredible jacket, now more note worthy indeed. Even the bay pictures showed a quality leather. I never thought of Ralphs-Pugh!

This is no doubt their unmistakable Steer Hide.

Amazing! More, More!

Wow! and Wow again! Breaking News. The jacket alone, by any maker, is an outstanding jacket. To uncover another piece RP history is icing on the cake for this jacket. Pretty sweet just to find this connection with Lawrence Leathers.

I was just raving about this company, proclaiming them the greatest! They reached far in so many ways. Each jacket tells more of the story. The two above alone tell the breadth of their offering. These are 2 more I styles I have never seen before.. Scroll through the pictures and see.

They also had labels from Norther California tanners, there are some pictured above.

Lawrence is one of the primary Tanners on the East Coast, if not the primary. There are threads here, I think, discussing the east coast tanners.

RP had some folks working there that Knew what they were doing.

I know I"ve seen the Diana label in other jackets. Just recognize the name.

I instantly recognized it as RP. I can spot their steerhide from a mile away. Back design and the collar shape is also uniquely RP. I’ll compare with the collar of my other RP.

Yes, fits me great. It needs some stitching here and there as was seen on the listing, but this one is worth investing in

These people definitely knew what they were doing. Some of the coolest designs ever that are still cutting edge to this day. Their cuts are amazing and fit so nice. And the leathers are of the highest quality, both the horsehide and the steerhide. I’d love to have some of their goatskin in my hand.

I think this steerhide might be my favorite leather of all time.

I’ll definitely be posting more.

Just got a 40s sports jacket of steerhide green RP label.
The leather is great, but some damage is on the collor.

The jacket has adjustment belts below a halfbelt.
All zippers are talon, the front zipper's stop has a mark "LO".

This jacket seems to have had another label above RP label, but it is lost.
Does anyone have any ideas?
