    Black garbardine 1940s DB jacket. It's a beater I got for cheap. Labeled "Joe Tanzer's" from Longview Washington. 1caaba27-4a31-48b6-8bf2-1f050865d84b.jpg d03e3965-d2c9-437a-9d35-de70d6f6d914.jpg 8761eda7-2abf-4e5d-919c-e5cc0825d37b.jpg 395c526c-bee3-4ca8-8e18-af2f6a66beb8.jpg 8abb677d-f067-449e-9499-6db9c618d6fd.jpg

Obtained from ebay for $30, thanks for asking. It's a lovely piece, and for some reason i really like the Joe Tanzer's shop tag logo. Very comfortable and breathable coat.

I picked up this odd duck today.

As you can see, it's a half belt with a flapped breast pocket, peak lapels and a single button fastening. Quite pinched at the waist. It was custom tailored by Nick DiToro in Davenport IA. It appears he is still in business, so I'm thinking it's not too old. Sadly I think there was probably a pair of pants with it that were no longer present at the thrift store. Seems to be fully canvassed.

Seems to be some sort of crepe. I figured it was worth getting as a study piece if nothing else.

If I saw you, I'd guess the jacket and trousers were straight out of the 30's. Is the jacket light enough to be viable for summer wear? This looks like a very 1930's summer ensemble to me. Great coat, though!

Thanks MondoFW. The pants are a pair of light cotton twill US Navy pants that I had just washed and was wondering if they would fit and how much I need to shorten them. Ha ha. The jacket fabric is fairly light, but it has a full lining and the canvassing, so in total it's not a real summer suit weight. Should be good in spring and autumn. The sleeves could use a little length I think. In any case, I was happy to find it.

I'll drop this item I picked up today here because although I'm fairly certain it came as a suit it came to me without the pants.

If nothing else I think this has the makings of a fine pattern after deconstruction. I have the feeling I'll wear it instead.

    Have a fine day,
