I've always thought Berretta made good looking guns. Never owned one. Just never had the opportunity to buy one for a players price. My Winchester 1873 clone is Italian. That 92 reminds me alot of my old Walther

That's why wheel guns worked so well, in my opinion. The transition from the DA pull to SA is a hard transition to make. To go from a full, finger length pull to a simple tap on the trigger is doable but takes considerable practice. I was always a fan of the Glock for this reason. Before the Dept. decided on which weapons to buy they came up with a list of "acceptable" 9mm semi autos that officers could furnish themselves. No cheapies and no SA only weapons. Extensive tests were done on a number of weapons at the time; Sig, Ruger, S&W, Glock and several others I can't remember. Records of the self-furnished weapons indicated 83% of the officers were carrying Glocks and after a departmental poll was conducted over 90% preferred the Glock to any of the other tested weapons. Naturally they chose the 92G for us.

This was during the time the military was transitionining to 9mm and Beretta had won that contract with the 92F and they were pushing hard into the US market and I'm sure they were low bidder and the training Sgt. over the testing at the time, was one of the few carrying a Beretta.

I've always liked wheelguns but I have relatively small hands so I pretty much stick to semi autos. STI Custom 45 acp.JPG

When I first started in law enforcement, Clyde’s Saddle Shop was located just South of Gainesville, Florida. Clyde had started in the leather business around WW-I, and though he was not well-known outside of the area, he was very popular with locals – many of the people I worked with had belts, holsters, etc. made by Clyde. I bought it used, but my first duty belt was made my Clyde. It was probably 30-40 years old when I got it, but it was one of finest belts I ever owned – he did beautiful work. I visited him once and planned to have a duty rig made, but never got around to it. This past weekend I spotted this holster on a gun show table in San Antonio. Clyde never used a maker’s stamp that I am aware of, but have seen and handled many of his holsters, and I am 99.9% sure this is one of his. And it fits my 1946-vintage S&W .38/.44 Heavy-Duty quite well.

My Holy Grail holster is a Clyde’s paddle holster for a 2” S&W J-Frame – they were made in the same style as this one. Let me know if you ever come across one!

Worst that I can remember. It's always been a tough job but now it's impossible to describe what it's become.

SG, I really enjoy your posts and want to continue enjoying them but please, no politics. TFL is pretty clear on that and I've seen them take action on the subject, besides, I come here to avoid such discussions.

That Model 29 is a true thing of beauty.
I really hope to have one in my collection someday.
Most of my handguns are revolvers in the .38 and .357 caliber. I have a Ruger SBH in .44mag and have found that I really enjoy the caliber. A Model 29 is high on my list as my next pistol in .44mag.
