They are athletes. If there were ever a place where tracksuits were warranted, then this is it.

I have some unusually strong feelings about athletes' etiquette. Having been one for several years and knowing and training with several Olympians, it's pretty clear to me that someone who dedicates their life to competing is valued almost exclusively for their physical prowess, and rightly so. They don't run marathons so they can give good tv interviews or philosophize.

These mules were dressed. And I think we can agree they were dressed fairly thoughtfully. But I also find it amusing to think about how oblivious they all probably were to what exactly they were wearing, and why.

Anyway, here's a question: what did athletes during the Golden Age wear to compete?
