1940’s/1950’s Knox Panama Up Brim (Part 1)

I received this 40’s/50’s Knox Panama this past weekend. In the past, every time I bought a size 7 straw, it was almost always too small on my 7 LO head, so I took a chance with this 7 1/8. It fits like a glove!!! It fits like it was literally made for my head. It’s my first “up-brim” panama and I can’t wait to wear it this spring/summer!

The condition is remarkable. Its literally unworn and about 99.5 percent mint. The straw is still pliable too!

Anyone have a good idea of the era for this Knox 15 Westlite? I guessed maybe early '50s. It was given to me by fellow Lounger, John Galt. It has the oilskin covering over the logo on the liner...

1960s Knox Comet 4 Custom Edge

Posting my early-60s Knox Comet 4 here for reference.

The general consensus is that the name refers to the DeHaviland Comet 4 in use by the British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC). This appears to be Knox's entry into the "Jet Set" hats (e.g., Dobbs 707, Resistol 737, and maybe even the Stetson Stratoliner, although that was't a jet).

This gives us a good indicator of the age of the hat, along with the stingy brim, the black sweatband and the lack of a block height on the factory label (typical of post-1950s HCA standardized labels).

A newly acquired stingie brimmed Knox. I'm guessing late 50's? Came with it's original box in great condition, although the brim width is 1 3/4" and I was hoping for 2":

Is Forward Look the model name or just something that was used on a number of hats?:
