I'm getting these two ready for sale. This is a preview. More info to come.

The PJ 27 police jacket is probably a 46 and weighs 7 pounds, relined with original early Buco label. Mystery jacket from Tasmania!

The D Pocket jacket is missing the D Pocket, but retains the original rare lining in nice
condition. Marked a size 42.

Two early rare Bucos.

The leather on the PJ27 is really something!

Strangely, I think I might like the D-pocket better without the D..

I've got more pics/video of the PJ. Is it a Buco question remains. The leather is undoubtedly horsehide in extra fine condition. The size is more a 46+.

I agree, the missing D Pocket goes by unnoticed. I was wearing this guy last night. I may keep this. I'm a few pounds from a comfortable fit. It has a modified fur collar too.

This is an early edition, late 40s

They did a great job and it looks cool but I don't think the lining is original, you can tell the stitching was undone. Also note the newer snaps. The previous owner mentioned the replacement in his listing.

The additional snaps are for the non original homemade collar. The lining is original., I've seen this lining and another collector has seen it too.

I'd say JL has seen the original Buco lining and made an effort to duplicate it.
JL sourced these liners from Japan and called them “Japanese flannel”. I’d have to search an email archive to find the swatches, there were dozens. They weren’t made by JL but purchased from Japanese makers and put into their jackets.

Thanks @Marc mndt you have raised concern. I will suspend my ebay sale. I have not been able to find another image of the lining in my archieve.

I was researching a Buco with the plaid lining and came upon a Buco with the same color of lining. It was an obscure posting in Japanese. This was withing the last year. When I saw the posting here I immediately recognized the lining as the one I had seen.

I will contact my friend who has seen one also. Perhaps he can help me with my sanity!

I will post further developments.

People here seem to be able to uncover jackets I've not seen, so I putting out a challenge:

Help me find an image of this jacket lining on a Buco. I swear I have seen it! This will help with my fragile sanity!

I will supply a REWARD!!!

Just curious, what's the pocket lining?

The quilted lined old Bucos I've seen sometimes are paired with red black wool linings.
