What to ask a local tailor when putting on jacket patches?

I have a little project in the works, adding some patches. Want to get it done locally. With that said, can anyone chime in as to what to ask for so as to not goof up the jacket? Obviously, I will be sure to confirm placement location on jacket, but what about thread choice? Anything I’m missing? Thanks. Patches will just be sewn through liner.

I fold a small piece of masking tape under the patch for placement. This saves grief .

Don't have them sewn thru liner. Gonna end up looking real shoddy if done over the liner and on top of that, it'll eventually tear it. Seen it happen. The tailor's gonna have to open the sleeve stitching if that's where you plan on having them installed so might as well do it right.
