Caxton cafe

Apparently these are rare, since this thread doesn't see too much action. Well, in my discovery journey of American hats, I found this one. Caxton ten in the colour "chalk". A very light grey in fact. Don't know what the lot "Nelson" refers to. Size 56 (American 7). Bound brim at 7,5cm and crown at 11cm at the pinch. Thanks to Mike @Redfokker it came with its proper box too. Shapes like a dream with no steam or effort and the hand of the felt is excellent.

Mike @Redfokker was kind enough to take these shots of it in full sunlight. The ribbon looks black in the previous post, but shows it's in fact dark blue below.

Haven't got a clue how to date this one.

If those are auction pictures, they really show the quality better than most we see. Very nice, love those sweats they use. It still has the protective plastic under the sweat. They sometimes dry out and flake, this one looks nice.

It's a real beauty, Max. I'm amazed how quickly you managed to find one. It did cost you deep in the purse though. That wouldn't fit on the sweatband anyway

Is there a connection between Caxton and MacLachlan? They both use the Cushionaire sweatbands and they aren’t all that common.

Was there a parent company? I have a jobber’s hat that shares many dimensions and components with some of the Caxtons.
