To me, that Flagship looks too new to be called "vintage". This is tucked in under the right side of the sweatband:

Yes he does, but he does have some very fine hats.

Sure, but this time the closet seems to contain lots of hot air:

"Era: 1947-1964 (Post WWII-Early 60s)

Vintage Type: True Vintage
"

- and I'm absolutely sure, it's no coincidence that he writes: "[...] in a wonderful nugat color from the 50's.", either. Unpleasantly manipulating, if you ask me.

Awesome, good to know Brad! The logo adds to the character, so after I'm done with it it'll make a great display piece. Thanks for the info!

I also snagged a #51 in a rather meaty 7 5/8 LO with a 6 1/2" crown the other day on the bay. I always assumed 6" was as high as fedoras generally went, so I'm guessing it may be a western block?

i had a great Stetson dress Fedora- wide ribbon, brown, mid forties, mode edge that was sent to

Mr. Thompson at Optimo & I requested a #52 block, he informed me it had originally made with a #51 & so it was again, so I don't think it was necessarily exclusively a western block.

True. And the prices have gotten insane. Preying upon those of us who need stimulation through the cabin fever months! I buckled last night on a hat I've been watching for months, and actually one that I had coveted for a year or more, probably. It was a Matt Deckard cagney model that he had outsourced to beaver brand before they went under. Must never have made it to his shop. I paid more than I wanted to for it, but it was a long oval and it looked like it needed to be adopted. Oh, well. Pics when it arrives!

Here is an interestingStetson imprint that I had not seen before.
It is the earliest marking with a Stetson showing a four X designation that I've seen.
This is stamped into the sweatband of a Stetson 1911 US Campaign Hat made previous to 1930.
Saw it on ebay so I have no other info.

I bet you can pull it off. I enjoy Laurel & Hardy, so take those comments with pride!

Turns out not to be a problem. That beautiful clear nutria bowler is, of course, 6 7/8, not the listed
7 5/8. And of course it was pathetically badly packaged and arrived crushed. Some eBay sellers...
Just initiated the resolution process.
