I've also heard that Kesslers is a sad excuse for Whiskey. My late Father in Law was a drinker, but he actually could afford to drink anything he wanted per his income. However, he was raised around people that would make their own "Corn" brew....he stated to me one time, some of the better "Shine" makers would add a small amount of a few things just for flavor....charcoal lighter fluid..witch hazel....they would take a spoon and just one spoon per batch of each of those....other wise if too much was added, you'd go toes up! Sure does not seem to be very appealing to me! I have never even tasted any shine myself, nor has Daniel. But he says you can buy something called, EverClear, and that is close to being real shine.

What ever happened to the "Grappa" crowd? It seems that was a fancy fad and now you never hear any more about it? From what I could see about it, the winery would have some of the most fancy dancy bottles for it, but that Grappa itself, was like ground, stewed, pulverized grape seeds and stems, some left over grape mash, a little wood from the bottom of the barrel and a toe nail or two from the "masher's feet".....just real yummy there, hummmm?:sick:

Could be...have never seen the stuff in person, but from what it sounded like, it was a bit thicker than normal wine....and reviews on it, sounds like it was fairly bitter and somewhat nasty. In some ways however it was a smart move on a winery to do that...just think...you bottle and sell the "after birth" of making a large batch of wine.....sort of like being paid for disposal of the "waste"...by your wine drinking customers. $25.00 fancy glass bottle with fancy foil labels...filled with disgusting waste left over from the wine mashing tubs.....(yucko).

I may have to look that wine up and see if there is any indications to what it really is made of? You know if you see it in a store for $2.99 per gallon, it can't be made of anything quality wise....I cannot help but to cringe when I think of anyone snorting down a glass of that stuff....maybe they cut some rose stems and toss them into a vat with anything else that could be fermented to make it...? Aqua Velva after shave...some rat hairs...two rose stems...left over non sold cheapo bread from the stores....two grapes...three grape seeds...half pound of straw from the kennels....(slightly soiled)...a cube of yeast....recycled wrapper from McDonalds happy meals....pound of sugar....tap water....all placed inside one large Kenworth Truck radiator after being mixed and blended.....fermented with the help of some high temp lights purchased from all the old Earl Scheib's "I'll paint any car any color for $29.95" auto painting company....then placed into those gallon jub type containers and directly delivered to the grocery store nearest you!

Exactly.
Same thing with Cachaca. Rum waste.
