Reasonable question.
A coworkers brother-in-law had killed one out west and brought them some meat. His wife wouldn't have any part of it, and he knew I had a bunch of kids so he asked if we'd eat it.
It was pretty good. Much less gamy than most deer, but still super lean, which is why I braised it.

Beef burritos with loads of coriander, homemade guacamole and chipotle hot sauce. Mighty good!

I have no idea. I guess you would have to ask sled dogs in Alaska. Mammoths were pretty well preserved up there for a LONG time.
