Last episode of The Roosevelt's. Between Teddy, FDR and Eleanor, they dominated politics for the entire first half of the 20th century! From 1900 to 1962.

That scene is a perfect example of one of the things I don't like about the show - everything that could have been funny was played to the slapstick extreme. Working on an assembly line where the items come out to fast has a humor element to it, but it needed to be understated - handled with a light touch - so that the humor was built subtly; instead, it was done to the max with her crazy expressions that made the entire scene, IMHO, irritating. I can't say I've seen it ripped off in other shows, but when you have, have you noticed if other directors played it more subtly?

You missed my point! Sitcoms are still using that same skit to this day! I never said it was good, just still being used.

I did not mean it as an attack on you - truly, not at all. I was just using it as a way to highlight how even potentially funny scenes were destroyed by the over-acting and slapstick nonsense of Lucy. And while you seem to agree with my view, most people consider that scene a "classic" which is probably why it is still ripped off today.

The Roosevelt's was outstanding! All of those Ken Burns series are great!

I read that he is currently working on "Vietnam." It's scheduled to air in 2016.

For Christmas I got "The War" on Blu Ray and "The West." However, if I could afford it, I would own all of his series on DVD/Blu-Ray.

Just saw a first episode of BBC's new mini-series:
Mapp and Lucia

Mapp-and-Lucia---everyone-012.jpg

Synopsis: The social rivalry between two women in the 1930s when Lucia rents Mapp's house for the summer.
...
My opinion: It is hilarious!

E!, Bravo, TLC, and the "female" channels are no more insulting or disingenuous than History and Discovery. To be honest, I have less of a problem with the Kardashians or the Housewives franchise than I do with all these fabricated, lying sacks of sh1t shows on History and Discovery. I feel there's less manipulation on those fluff programs, but make no mistake, they're certainly manipulating people into fashion trends and house decor. Really no different than HGTV-type networks selling this twisted lifestyle that is little more than 24/7 commercials for how to spend money on your homes and gaining status by entertaining etc. I wouldn't expect a lot of men to watch Bravo, but I can honestly say I don't feel any less of a sucker for watching those than I do American Pickers. Frank isn't even a picker from what I've read. He's a fire inspector cast by Mike and his marketing and production teams. Same goes for Danielle. The show is probably successful enough for it to be their main gig now, but the entire situation is fabricated. If you want to BELIEVE, don't dare go google this show and how many stories are written about how fake it is and the whole road Mike took to make the TV show happen.

I always thought Lee Majors would have another TV series. Wishful thinking, I guess....
He has a guest supporting role on Raising Hope, which ended this year.
He plays the father of one of the characters (Burt) and his wife is played by Shirley Jones.
