Thanks Dennis. It served me well on the first trip, but I got a blow out on the second. Waiting for the bike shop to open so I can go get a new tire and tube put on.

Today, Royal Deluxe Stetson

I did toy with the idea of the blue Marathon,

But decided I didn't want to risk bike grease on it.

Or the suede jacket.

Have a good Sunday,
Michael
It would be sacrilege! The Stetson looks nice too, but the Marathon and suede jacket is a winning combo, Michael.

Very nice, Brent. It's the brim curve Alanfgag seems to favor.

You're welcome, B.

I decided to wear one of my best hats today. Definitely an @alanfgag grade hat. Wonderful felt and shape.

It was just a liiitle tight across my forehead, so I placed it in a custom band block and then forgot about it until today.
It fits perfectly now.

Hmmm, that's nice, Max. The crease tells a lot about that felt.

Hey, I hadn't realized it was exactly one year ago today that I posted in the Lounge for the first time.
So many things have happened to me since then that it somehow seems a lot longer.

I've learned a lot, made several new friends, and bought a whole bunch of hats.
I love this place. My life is better and more varied because of it.
Thank you, guys.

You took to it like a duck to water, Max. After only a year your collection is more than impressive. Congrats!

Traveling today in a vtg.50's Stetson 3X Clear, Fifteen. This is a terrific wide ribbon fedora. I wear wide ribbon felt hats less often than mid or thin.

This hat is an immediate fav as the felt is glorious. The felt on this Fifteen rivals a 50's 7X that I have. Malleable so that the crown or brim take a shape easily. A dress weight felt that takes a shape and keeps it until brushed by my hand. The felt is dense that is soft to the hand.

The hat was sold at The Kleinhans Co., Buffalo, NY. This was a high end mens clothing store (Kleinhans Co. was in business from 1893-1992).

Above is a pic of the Kleinhans Hat Department display in the 50's.

Best wishes, Eric -
Fabulous looking hat, Eric. For a moment there I thought the last pic was of Max's hat room :)

Mayser's "Supra" date stamped November 14, 1950. Johann Zehme München was the Royal Bavarian Court Supplier (est. 1834). Unfortunately the famous store closed in 2012 and was replaced by Prada. Here is a story from 2012 and interestingly some of the comments don't match the story content.

I have neglected taking photos of Mayser Paper Labels. This one is actually date stamped November 14, 1950 (14.11.50) so an extra bonus.

The inside sweatband seam is also date stamped!

Beautiful, Steve. Quite a deep flange in the back there.

Been out of the loop for a while. I miss the hatlove, discussing it with the wife is just not the same. Have some new hats to get posted. In an exchange with the Holland Connection I came up with a wonderful heather finish homburg. This Wilson (English manufacture) is a dream. The felt is supple and clay like. The liner reads like a book. Lots to love about this one. I've got to take some detail photos and post it (catching up!) I wore it to rehearsal for the play I'm stage managing last night. I'll be getting out the black hats for a few weeks though. I'm thinking it may be early 1950s.

Glad to see you posting again, Mike. And the Wilson has found a good home. Hard to part with it, but it needed a better place to get worn.

While not a hat I wore today, this was last Friday in New Orleans. I was able to meet the owner of a NOLA hat institution, Sam Meyer. He still comes into the shop a couple of days each week. His grandson was on the lounge a while back. They were so impressed with the light blue duplex from Mike Miller, they begged me to come in and show Sam. He got a real kick out of meeting a Lounge Member from the other side (left coast) of the USA. It was an honor to meet him.

Very cool. The man is somewhat of an institution I believe.

Yes, I have a lot of catching up to do. The remodel did come to an end, but so did my back. Blew it out moving back in (probably a box of books), then off to limp around New Orleans. I have some great images to post in that thread. The hat room is basically the same, just more organized.
