Thanks Scott! Yeah, he was an ol' blue eyes, for sure. My oldest brother inherited those genes, and the girls loved him.

Me? People in the street are usually offering me a banana...

P.S. I took that picture at Logan airport on the day he was leaving for Civil Service in Viet Nam. I'm lucky enough to still have the camera (Leica) and lens, and I can now use the lens(es) with a camera body I picked up about a month ago!!
Great story. Banana? LOL

I finally finished this black Borsalino refurb. This one started out as a size 7 that I stripped down and reblocked to a 7 1/4 to fit me. I replaced the original mid ribbon and went with a matching black 3/8 thin ribbon. I have more in the Conversion Corral...

Good morning. A vintage Stetson Vita-Felt Playboy was my hat choice this morning. This un-reeded fedora's felt is very soft and malleable.

The gray felt is everything that vintage felt is desired to be. The ribbon, sweat and liner show patina that comes with wear. This clean, vintage hat is a joy to wear.

Best, Eric -
The early morning sunlight beautifully highlight the redish pink hues on your Vita-Felt Playboy, Eric.

Another beauty to behold.

Thank you, Charlie! Yeah, I kinda saw the light on black hats. I definitely like them better than green and orangey colored hats! :p

The only bad thing about a black truck or car, is that it's hard to keep clean. It takes me two days to get this truck washed and shined up to where I want it. The third day, it's dirty again! ...and it's the same with black hats. Can't keep them clean!

Never mind the truck Terry, that hat would go well with just about anything.

Nice remake my friend.

In 1981 I was in high school. My band director knew Benny Goodman. He came and played a concert with the high school jazz band I was a member of. An evening I will never forget!

A couple things Michael.
1. Nice hat!
2. The last few days some of your pics are 3D! Awesome!! Really adds perspective!
3. Since nobody has asked i will. What is that wooden chair?? you’re lookin at??
It’s beautiful work?
I was gonna joke and ask if it was the new sissybar/seat for your bike but won’t. I mean, you are Michael. It could be!!

1. Thanks Bowen. It is a very nice felt.
2. I get to have a little unusual fun for a couple of weeks at this time of the year. If I get out at the right time of the morning and it's sunny I have a few minutes when I'm getting hit with the sun reflecting off of a 4' square plate glass window on my neighbors second floor. At the same time I'm getting dapple sun through distant trees on the other side.

So in that photo my face and the pinch of the hat is lit by the reflected light and my collar and back of my neck and the bow are lit by the direct sunlight. It's kind of fun to play with.
3. The chair is in the process of getting coated with beeswax. It was carved in Haiti by AM. It came to me by way of abandonment. It is very good for getting a kink out of the back. I did bring it home on my bike and it was a serious case of the tail wagging the dog. Ha ha.

Thanks,
Michael

How cool is that?!!! You actually played with him??! No, I can't imagine you'll forget about that.

I only (literally) bumped into him for a half second on a snowy sidewalk going into the stage door for a concert a day after a snow storm in Boston. I was on my way into the concert, STARSTRUCK all I could get out was, "Ben?!" Also a moment to never forget.

Better dating the hat, here's an ad from 1957...
