I started the day in this Beaver brand western. The brim is only 2 3/4 to 2 7/8, and not very even. I think somebody cut it without using a rounding jack in the past.
It was an orphan buy, so I'm not that concerned. It will probably end up a conversion.
It's warming up, so I'm glad to have some straws in the van.

Greetings All:
Today....i rarely plan a post and today’s no diff. For rainy porch lounging and coffees i looked around and this one caught my eye.
Return of the Churchill Beaver 50 with a brim that would slice bread. One can only dream what the B/V 100 would be like!
Not a toothpick thin ribbon but one of my thinnest for i guess, TAR Thurs.
I’ll never sell this hat. It’s not the most prestigious, look what i got hat, but mine till cold dead hands.
Be well. Bowen

A nice looking hat, Bowen. Colour, shape, ribbon, style, and all round look, what's not to like? Often, the less "prestigious" hat(s) in the collection are the ones one goes for [emoji4]

I wasn't going to post this one I wore today. After seeing all the wonderful genuine Stetsons from you guys, I almost felt embarrassed about my "faux" English ca. 1960s (Manchester) made Imperial Stetson that I bought at the beginning of the summer.

However, though not a true Stetson, there's nothing to be embarrassed about a Manchester made hat. So here it is.

Works well with brim up or down, imo.

That is a beautiful hat, as far as I'm concerned. I have a hat I feel similarly to you about. Although, it is, for lack of a better description, a piece of crap! It is a early-mid 70's Stetson, my first cowboy hat! I was actually playing cowboy at that time. It's been tromped on, stomped on, rained on, snowed on, dropped in manure, dropped in the creek, snagged in trees, stained, faded, had a new sweatband, and it wouldn't bring a nickle at an auction, but it would be the very last one I'd get rid of. It's been with me since my teens.

I think that is a fine looking hat, and I agree, one shouldn't be embarrassed by it. It has an excellent color & beautiful ribbon.

I like that (small S) stetson. And if my eyes don't decieve me (they might), that mid ribbon falls into the maroon color spectrum.
I keep trying to buy some vintage ribbon in maroon, but it always arrives looking more burgundy. That stingy Champ I shared a long time ago is still on hold waiting for the correct trim.

I wish I had never held a Churchill Beaver 50. It’s haunted me ever since and the chance of me finding one in my size isn’t very good. An absolutely beautiful hat, Bowen. Please keep showing it so I can enjoy it vicariously.

It just took the long way home! Thanks

For some reason I thought that Max ended up with it; the inescapable black hole for so many fine hats. I’m glad it found it’s way home.
