Wow. Your conversions are grand! I do like it without the binding edge.

You sport a beret well. Great hats of late. Your lightweight VS inspired a lightweight VS of mine. A thank you has been long in the coming - thanks.

Cold is right - stay warm sir.

The VS touch is glorious. Sharp hats the past days sir.

A Simonds Cap was my choice for doing shopping errands this morning. This Streamlined model drew compliments from the grocery store checkout line.

Once home I have started up the grill for lunch for my wife and dog. A vtg. Stetson Playboy has up to the task.

Best, Eric -
Eric I am yet to decide what I envy the most: your felt or your cap collection. In any case I appreciate that you don't baby them !

Thank you all for your likes and compliments yesterday, we very much appreciate it !

Brent, I guess it's because they own the style since the first one appeared as a woman's hat. Fact is, they always look better with just about everything in our eyes :)

Sunny today and pretty much the perfect winter day imo: sun and cold enough to wear my scarfs, coats and hats ;) Wearing one that I picked up just yesterday

The perfect combination!

Gorgeous hat, and a wonderful pairing with the rest of your attire. Class!
Thanks, Brent! You're looking mighty dapper yourself this Sunday.

Single digits with windchill below 0, though I'm guessing not as cold as MN. Over the past 36 hrs we had snow, sleet, rain, back to snow, and plunging temps.

Very sharp detailing on that Simonds cap!

Jonathan that's absolutely fabulus ! I love when EU made hats meet US dimensions and styles !
Indeed, Stefan found quite a gem for me. Plenty of crown to work with on this homburg, so much so it almost requires some dents. I initially tried some deeper ones but settled on these shallow ones instead.

As usual you are quite smartly dressed. I greatly admire your style and envy that you seem to pull it off with such ease.

Coldest day yet this winter, though all things considered it's finally getting closer to normal. Happy thoughts with Happy Socks and this Mayser Spezial courtesy of @steur:

Thanks to Stefan for another wonderful hat.
Fabulous, Jonathan. You couldn't have found a better outfit to show off that great Mayser. Stefan finds 'em, it's up to us to do them justice when we wear them. Cudos.

@AbbaDatDeHat was right.

I’ll save the naphtha bath for a more deeply soiled, or light colored hat.

All it took was low compressed air blasts, a brushing, a damp cloth and steam shaping to bring this hat back to its glory days.
I’ll say this: Though I have had no problems using water to clean or promote the stretch of vintage sweats in the past, lately, I have ruined two sweats with it. I’ll never use water again.
Leather conditioner and a rag only.
With this hat and sweat the cold water didn’t completely ruin it but shrunk and cracked portions of it. [emoji35][emoji35][emoji35]
Maybe you guys can learn from my recent astonishing experience.

Finally got my new ribbon on the Cavanagh Homburg. Had a heck of a time getting the right ribbon. First I got 1” instead of 2”, then I got Petersham instead of finished edge. It is good vintage stock though and I think it turned out pretty good. Copied the bow style from the original one that was falling apart.

Nice work. Nice hat too, and it suits you just right. I actually have a similar Cavanagh homburg but no idea what to do with it lol. It’s gigantic. At least a size 8. Let’s see that bow bro!

Looks great! Sorry about the sweatband, I’ve had similar experiences caused by water, steam, and even Bick-4 leather conditioner. If the leather is in good condition there isn’t a problem, but it there is dry rot the moisture will shrivel it like bacon. Better to not take the chance.
