What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

I have been taking advantage of the warmer weather today. I began with a dog soiree while wearing a Gannon (bone beaver felt). The sun feels good.

Back home doing outside chores I was chilled and put on a warmer vest and changed hats. A stetson unlined Playboy was my hat choice.

Breakfast outside in a Monsavais cap.

Pre-lunch jaunt in a vintage Stetson Buccaneer. (Not exactly the same as the hat in the advertisement as it has only half of the brim spiral stitched. Until I can see an example of an entire stitched brim, I claim Buccaneer.)

After lunch I was hanging out by the dock in a Lee Desert Tones. The waterfowl are very busy today.

I headed out to do a "welfare check" on my wife's elderly Aunt. She is doing well and appreciated the groceries I dropped on the doorstep. We held a conversation thru the front window and shared a beverage. She sipped tea and I sipped a mug of coffee. I wore a Homburg. She commented that I needed to wear a less dressy hat. The homburg was to dressy. Right she is! Our discussion was easily started as she spoke about how her late husband wore a hat daily. His favorite hats were the "New York hats" -Mallory's. When their family was doing well, post depression, he had as many as 3 hats in the hall closet.

On with the balance of Saturday evening. Be safe, be strong and see you on the street soon, Eric -
I’m sorry, but that’s an obscene number of hats for one day. You’ve left me with a severe case of hat envy.

People following this thread will recognise that when I wear this ‘roo hat it’s one of two things... Either I’m working in the garden or I’m cooking outdoors. Today it’s cooking outdoors. This is called Jingisukan (Genghis Khan). It’s great if you don’t have time for a barbecue. You cook the meat on the open crown and the juices and fat drip down to the upturned brim, to flavour all the veggies cooking there. Quick, easy and delicious. This is not a genuine jingisukan. It should be made with lamb or mutton but that’s not readily available in these parts so today I have used chicken and pork.

I’m lucky to be able to enjoy such an idyllic setting, quarantine or no quarantine.

Today....inspired to the Max, i’m slummin with Max’s half brother.
The Beaver 50. As fine a felt as one could ask.
This one has a crease that is probably my overall favorite. Not my doing, it just does itself.
Churchill days are good for the soul.
Still good here in Almost Heaven country.
Be well and safe.
Bowen
Ps: i noticed that’s another Churchill over my shoulder. It owns the four dent!

Terrific hat sir. Churchill hats quickly bring to mind their namesakes quote," A fanatic is one who can't change his mind and won't change the subject." A quote that current events bring to mind. Thanks for sharing your the hats on your awesome hat rack.

It’s so nice out I got the kids bikes all fixed up after a long winter. Akubra Snowy River.

A BBQ yesterday and almost all the snow is melted. Winter may be over soon.
Johnny

Snow gone? Cheers! On occasion, like you we get snow flurries into May but they melt right away. Winter clothes stay out, while the snow shovels, and snowblower get stored. Great hat for chores.

Janyška "?" possibly late 1930s early 1940s. I couldn't find a paper label and didn't want to damage the sweatband so no model name. The black felt easily takes a dry crease and has a nice hand. This a formal hat with larger dimensions and a wider band / ribbon. There is no brim edge binding so you can really see the brim work. Overall this is a really fantastic hat. This hat is from my May 2016 NOS Czech find.

This week I will highlight Janyška & Cie. from Czechoslovakia. Janyška & Cie. was started in the 1920s in Valašské Meziříčí – Krásno about 25 km from Nový Jičín (location of JHS, BB, AP). Janyška & Cie. was a Czech company based on Austrian hat tradition. Janyška & Cie. became Tonak Factory 2 post WWII and the factory was closed 1961.

30 Days to 30 Hats - Day 18
Stevens 3X Beaver

Stevens 3X Beaver - California Weight
Light grey light weight felt
1 inch silver and striped mid ribbon
2 3/8 brim with silver grosgrain bound edge
Wind trolley

I did not plan on wearing this hat today... but since it’s arrival this afternoon I haven’t taken it off. When you first see this hat the star is the super cool silver and grey striped mid ribbon. After closer inspection... this is some hat. It is a very light very moldable felt they called ‘California weight’. A fantastic for me 2 3/8 brim with a thin silver grosgrain bound edge along with a wind trolley. And extremely comfortable. Hopefully I can clean up some of the staining on the felt. But even if not I am nothing but happy with this hat.

Glorious ribbon and hat. I am curious and will watch the cleaning process and results.

Snuck out a few flower deliveries from the shop today during some essential travel to the farmer's market, and for deep dish pizza. Obviously that's essential for the weekend!

VS refurbished Stetson.

I am jeleuos of the fresh vegetables! Necessary I say! You wear the hat without effort - cngrats.

Sported a Borsalino for my daily masked Corona crawl, along with another West Virginia fashion cloth face mask. Thanks B.
No clouds, no wind, choppy surf and currents, but I went for a good long swim anyway.

Walk, warmth, swim, hat - life is good. Excellent!

A five hat and a cap day; I have still much to learn! Show us the way, Eric.

I will en devour to do better sir!

No need for envy - go on adventures and go outside and do chores, wear all the hats. I frequently change hats so that I do not love them to death with perspiration, dirt, grim or combos of all.

Glorious English hats and homburgs.

Your post has me salivating. It looks delicious. I have not seen that style of food preparation. Very efficient and I bet the smells are grand. Thanks for sharing.

Yesterday evening I was rigging the posts for the dock. After the cold and wet work I sipped a Guinness. I wore a Gannon (beaver in natural) for the effort. The hat needed to be steamed and leather treated(dried and conditioned) as I worked up quite a sweat.

This morning I dressed to lightly for the 35'f weather for my morning dog soirée. A Knox fedora was my headgear. This hat needs to stay on the hat rack for more wearing as it is truly a special felt and edge treatment. It is a very light gray that becomes white in direct sunlight. The Knox hats of this and previous decades had the corrugated styled sweat and is sooo comfortable to wear. Just a fine hat!
