Vic, carasouselvic, had corrected my error in typing 3X Clear Beaver in my previous post. I corrected it to read 3X Beaver. It inspired me to pull a Clear Beaver off my hat rack and wear about while posting some comparision pics. Here is a pic of wearing the 7X Clear Beaver(presentation hat to retired employee) with the 3X Beaver Fifteen in the tree branches behind me.

This stingy, 2" brim, has a felt that would easily convince me that I could wear stingies all day everyday.

RD OR inspired by Eric’s wonderful Cadet Blue Stratoliner this morning.

That color is terrific. Do I see a bit of swoop to the sides of the brim? Cool you are channeling Alan's Stratoliner brim swoop.

Two more good ones, Stefan. Love that Sools, hat and name.

Great looking hat Michael.

Steven
Thanks Steven.

Spectacular Unknown Michael.
Thanks Perry. This one was a thrift store find that came sans sweatband. I reblocked it a bit and found a new used sweat to put into it. I think it turned out pretty well.

Thanks all,
Michael

Thanks Eric. I guess it's close enough to spring like to pull out the saddle shoes. You are showing a lot of nice hats and caps today. Love that Clear Beaver.

Thanks,
Michael

30 Days to 30 Hats - Day 23
Lee Water Bloc Silver Label - Panda Felt

View attachment 230168

Lee Water Bloc Silver Label
Chocolate Brown “Panda Felt” fuzzy finish
5 inch crown front 3inch back as bashed - 5 1/2 open
1 5/8 Brown grosgrain ribbon
2 3/4 Brim with 3/8 matching grosgrain binding

A with the Mallory yesterday... This hat is second of two hats I have that belonged to a man who was a Police Chief in Poland during WWII. He was a holocaust survivor and hero who helped 100s escape occupied Poland.

This one I reshaped from what I think was his preferred pork pie style crown to a more traditional fedora style

View attachment 230183 #24 Gonna post early again because tomorrow I’ll be busy, busy, busy.
This is a super thick, heavy, dense felted hat by Flechet in the 50s. It was a burg with stained and tattered ribbon binding. Its cheap buy it now price made for a great candidate for remodeling. Unfortunately, the liner was wasted, but oddly, the leather sweat was in tip top condition. Flechet used fine materials and it was put together very well. Better than most. Not sure if it was built in the US, but it probably was considering the US sizing and writing on the single sticker inside. Sold in a store in Tampa: Joe Blare country, sorta. View attachment 230188

I’ve been wanting to find a hat that I could sew a 30s styled jaunty bow on and this one was perfect. The light green Petersham grosgrain just works.
I used a tan 7/8 ribbon for binding, but it was too bright so I subdued it just a little with grey Rit die.
Desired to do something different with the shape of this hat, yet keep a 30s vibe , so I went with two high side dents. View attachment 230189 View attachment 230190 View attachment 230191

Great work Randall. That ribbon color is great, don't think I've seen that. Did you get it at Timeless Trims ? Great bow too.

I really enjoy the side profile to see the shape and height of the stiff hat. Looks clean and sharp. That said, the accompanying pics are just cool. The 2 dozen+ women sitting sewing just goes to show they were making a bunch of hats. I imagine your posts take some effort. Thanks from my neighborhood for sharing.

Back from a late morning jaunt around my neighborhoods. I took in a Zoom mtg. while walking. "Never let a crisis go to waste," a quote acredited to Winston Churchill.

I wore a Royal Stetson with a tan/camel hued felt bound in a matching shade bound edge and a snappy sage green ribbon/bow. I like this "casual" colored hat as it works so easily with my attire. Royal usually indicates hats of a moderate or less price point. I beg to differ with this fedora.

For a relatively inexpensive price this hat has clever unique edge treatment. The brim edge is folded over and has a stitch to hold it down. The stitch is well executed. I started to count the stitches per inch, but the stitches are taught without being to tight that they blend into a flat surface. I am struck by the likeness of a closed channel shoe. This is not anything like it, but the execution is clean and makes a smooth surface. No pulling of the felt by too tight stitching. This is a lot of words to say that it is well done.
