Next one will be way better! And let’s be honest...I ripped that straight off taobao! LOL. Agonizing over the measurements. I feel the first is too big. It’s tagged a 46” and fits close to one.

True but they ripped it off of someone too right? Lol

Can't wait for your next project and secret project with them!

@Bonefish Jim
Just browse this thread from page one, you'll see plenty of examples. What most members do is give their own measurements for the best fit. It's hard to go with 5* stock measurement so if you go custom then be specific with your measurements.

You may want to wait a few weeks before ordering to see the shearling jacket that one of our members here had commissioned recently.

One thing that is giving me fits is the arm hole diameter. Shawn said the one I have is 22” but in reality it’s 27”! I’m trying to get this measurement accurately conveyed. I sent him this pic

This creates far too low an arm hole...but if I measure my SB or almost anything else flat at 9” it translates to 18” around and that is entirely too small. With a tape and a t-shirt this measurement is 23” on my body. I’m stuck as I don’t know how to convey this needs to be about 3” smaller than the first one...but he believes that was 22” and it was actually 5” larger...

How did you measure your SB? I can't believe it's 9. I just measured my FL which is pretty tight, it measures 10', and that's a size 42.

I believe this is called “Armscye” and it is a very annoying thing...most make them huge to accommodate all types, or overcompensate and make them too small so they ride up in your pits.

^^^^Those photos should help him for sure.

I just got my confirmation. Everything looks great except the collar seems tall. Looks better folded down. Maybe just that one angle seems weird. Most my leather collars seem to be 3", this one is 4" so not sure. Mr. Proper, how wide/tall was your collar?

We'll see. But glad they used the "40" frame for my jacket based on what you wrote above.

Length of my jacket is 26.8“ (68 cm) and I‘m 6‘ 5“
So 27“ seems a little bit long

I'm 6'0 but I do have longer torso. I asked for 26.75, so maybe rounding error for them. I don't mind if it comes slightly below. I'm more worried about the collar now. I sent him a note to change, hopefully they can do before shipping. Has anyone else corrected anything after they saw the QC photos?

this is the photo that scares me. It's probably a major job to change it out now given they have to redo the zipper too since it goes all the way up. I'll see what he says. I mean I probably would never wear it all the way up, more like what you posted above, but it's actually closer to 4.5 than 4.

I think zippers can be shortened from the top. They just need to reposition the stopper :

^^^that's great to know. TY for info. In case he gives me some options. Might as well get this as close to right as possible.

In looking back at length, I think what messed me up some was I recently bought an Aero from Thurston Bros. I used the specs that they said the jacket was as reference and made some adjustments. The thing is, they pull the jacket really tight to get the measurement. There's been a few people who have mentioned the measurements don't match up on their jackets. So in hindsight, I'd probably go 26.25 instead of 26.75. The Aero I got is supposed to be 26, but I keep getting 25.5ish. So I added 3/4 inch on what I thought was the measurement (26) because I feel like the Aero one is touch short for me, but not bad. Whatever not the end of the world. Starting to sound like first world problems ;)

Shawn listens to feedback and is very obliging. Most of the jackets up there were either commissioned or improved by customers - we help Shawn perfect and create designs for the next customer. But he does the patterning and all the hard work. I don't mind. Two of mine are up there.
Which of your jacket styles are on five star?

Most likely he can “fix it” before he ships it he’s very customer service oriented

Edit; Nevermind. Think you were asking which of the member styles are now on 5 Star. From what I gather, the sunburst, cafe racer, and a couple of the civilian half belt.

their niche is military, A1, A2, Bombers, etc. But a few members have been giving them sample photos and mock ups and they've been nailing them for the most part. Cafe Racer, Half Belt styles, Sunburst, etc. Read the thread from the beginning. Lots of examples posted. The trickiest part seems to be the sizing because their size charts are really strange. I was coming up Small to Xsmall on some styles even though I mostly wear large. But they will customize to your specs. Just need to get past the language barrier via photos and drawings seems to be the safe bet.

From Aero’s website: “This leaves us no options other than to be unable to guarantee measurements of a finished jacket to be any more precise than to be within ½" of requirements. This minimal discrepancy means nothing on a leather jacket, a few weeks wear and any leather jacket starts to form itself to the wearer's body and even an inch one way or the other will be totally hidden in the overall ambiance of a broken in jacket.”
Tweeking jacket measurements by 1/4” or 1/2” seems a bit extreme.
The Five Star jackets posted look great, they appear to fit extremely well, are nicely made at a very wallet-friendly price point and get delivered astonishingly quickly.
At the end of the day, it’s “just” a leather jacket to be worn and enjoyed!
