Daniele; The green heathered hat is a puzzle. Great heathered felt in an unique hue. It is a good example of the felts available to hatters during those years.
This morning I wore a 30's fedora whose label is St. Lawrence Hat Co., Brockville, CA. I lead with the pics of the tip label and embossed leather sweat to identify the company.
This one was made in Brockville Canada. Wolthausen owned the factory from 1895 until 1930. Brock was made by the very same Wolthausen Hat Corporation.
Wolthausen Hat Corp also made Brock hats of which I have showcased a couple on this thread in the past months.
On to the hat: This St. Lawrence fedora is a light gray with a definite cool hue. The crown felt is soft and easy to crease and dent.
The bound edge has a bound edge with a whip stitch that shows on the top. I turned the brim like a snap brim fedora. It did not go easy and I have been considering that the hat may have been intended to be worn with the slight rolled edge up. I will start to wear the hat "turned up."
The felt and ribbon work are of excellent work. The unreeded sweatband leather is modest, durable and comfortable. I have another fedora of this hat company that uses a thicker, treated, dyed and smooth leather.
The proportions are of the stereotypical '30's felted hats. The providence definitely places it in 20-30's manufacturing.
