Thanks Max! Graham sure did a great job on your MacLachlan.

I've been wearing one of my go to vintage hats, the Stetson Junior Cowboy for the past two days. Probably mid to late 40's or later. I found the ad, below which unfortunately did not have a date reference.

Such a great hat, Jared. I just noticed it’s got the same ribbon and binding and pretty much the same dimensions as my favorite 7X CB.

Out completing chores this morning in a Adam Pacesetter (Executive Quality) in the felt hue buckskin. You have to love some gills in the morning.

That is one good looking hat! Looks good on you. Cool that you found the ad.

Hello, I want to buy a good quality Whippet, not a knock off. They all seem to be sold out or their cheap and I'm questioning their authenticity. $200 budget.

This 1950s Stetson No. 1 Quality was an internet find several months ago. The hat arrived sans liner and with a completely dry rotted sweatband. After setting it aside for a while, I decided to give it a new lease on life by sending it to Wolfbrae and having @belfastboy clean it up and completely rebuild it. It turned out fantastic! It originally had a two-cord ribbon and the new ribbon and campaign bow gives it a whole different vibe. It didn’t lose all it it’s vintage character and it’s just what I was hoping for.

Are you talking vintage or new? The only new modern Whippets I know of were made for the Japanese market, but they turn up here from time to time, assuming you are in the US.

If you're talking vintage, unless you get lucky, open your wallet. They seem to have a floor of about $400 on eBay. Size is also an issue. Smaller sizes don't command the price larger ones do.

You might try calling down to the HatCo outlet in Garland, TX and ask if they have any in stock. They stock factory seconds and overstocks; many of us have gotten some good deals that way. While you're at it, see if they have anything in 7 1/4 and get back to me.
