I've always assumed it's to give more room in the shoulder. Not as extreme as an "Action Back" or shoulder gusset, but functioning toward the same end. A back that narrows from the shoulder to waist. Much like how pleated trousers give more room below the waist.
Thanks, that's what I thought, gives more room allows movement.

If the goal is to reduce patronage, the strategy will likely succeed.

Not sure what to make of the lack of input from the Mods. @Peacoat ? @Edward ?

Just saw this. Nathan and Scott are working on it, and things have improved greatly since this morning. It will all work out.

If you've got a quick jacket question and don't see a thread for it, just post it here. Whether the question is about fit, design, patterns, choice of leather, makers, hardware etc,. this is the place.
I thought I saw a post about some different ways to thread and tie side laces on a jacket on this thread or another. A link to that post would be much appreciated. Thank You

30's style aviation/bootlegger style jackets. I want one. Preferably in a not to heavy leather. Preferably handwarmer pockets. Any other than the usual suspects available?

these are nice. I've also seen those Real McCoy x Harley Davidson collabs on Buyee but they're always sub size 40. I'd pull the trigger on one of those if I ever saw. They're usually in the sub $700 range too.

Schott has a model Per 28 I'm really really really looking into. It's not full blown aviator style, but pretty close. It has button cuff sleeves, pretty much the same front pocket design, and a little bit of a fancy back but not a full blown sunset style. Also comes hand vintaged and teacore leather from what I can tell. And a super cool liner, like a plaid/corduroy two tone kind of thing. I haven't seen a Medium yet on Ebay, but there's a L, XL, XXL used on Ebay and Poshmark.

Question:
Does anyone know what’s the equivalent sizing from Japanese shirts numbered 3, 4, 5 or even 14, 15, etc to international S, M, L... or better yet 38, 40, 42, etc? Cheers.

Let me take another stab at this: I’m not even sure how to describe it, but I’ve been thinking about a sort of four button car coat with a blazer type collar and lapel, but closer to the length of a cafe racer and equally close fitting with the zip pockets like you’d find on a hb or cr (not patch pockets or blazer type pockets).

Is that even still a car coat or am I totally drifting into crazyland? Is there anything like that out there now, or historically, for me to base this on?

thanks!!

Interesting. Maybe like an Aero Maxwell with zips on the pockets?

How long does it typically take Vanson to reply to emails? I sent an email last friday and haven't heard back yet.

Should I send another email?

As in this Friday the 16th, or the 9th of a week past? If the latter, Yes; if the former, wait until Wednesday morning (their time zone) to inquire again.
