Look behind the sweat... Steve used to write who for and when the hat was made.
I had already looked. Nothing.
And had heard that Penman scribes his penmanship on the sweat, as well.
So what’s the meaning if there is no signature?
Seems to be a high quality felt, but I haven’t held enough modern fur felts(around ten) to cast judgement.
Don’t know if it’s beaver or rabbit.
Doesn’t really say. I’d guess if beaver it’d likely tout that it is instead of, “Fine Fur Felt”?
I’m not a movie hat expert either, but I’d say it’s a swell likeness of an Indy.

View attachment 401897 Got this’n in today on an eBay victory.
One o them Indy specials by Adventurebilt. Got it cheap enough.
I’m not a big fan, so it’ll be a flip.
You see these go for around $450 regularly. Good hats and I’ve read where Penman is making them now.
Hmmm. For some unexpected reason I feel like digging around this enigmatic swamp to look for Seminole Indian relics, of a sudden.

John learned a tremendous amount in the adventurebuilt project. He does quite a nice job for a 100% hand stitched effort. And one of the best Indy hats out there. He was making the hats for Blacklist not too long ago.

Just snagged this beauty by Brent.
My first of this Sears brand.
Needed a fedora in this color combo, too, so I’m stoked!
Has a few moth nibbles, but with a hat having these proportions and in this condition I don’t mind patching them.
Looks late 40s?

With this Brent I would have all the name brands I’ve been wanting...if I could just find that elusive 40s Disney...

I wonder if there’s someone in the FL who not only has one of each brand, but also has a vintage hat sold from every state.
Maybe even a small few has one from every major city.

That is a beauty! Congrats Randall.

BTW… Brent was a Montgomery Ward brand (I know — same store , other end of the mall)

I bet those moth nips have all ready vanished.
Yeah, that’s right. Pilgrim was Sears.
Thanks, Bob.
Guess like Clooney, I’m no longer welcome at Montgomery Wards.

The nips will be filled, and look okay, but I’ve yet to be able to do it without being able to detect a patch at certain angles.
Wish I could find the best way. I’ve tried various techniques.

Yes I’ve been watching that one. If it was my size I would have bought it myself.

Got this one for $70
Needs a new sweatband. I’ll make sure the old Sport-Lite name gets transferred to the new sweat in a tasteful way.
Looks like a mid 40s to me.

Nine times in ten it’s the other way: a 1970s hat listed as a 1930s hat.
Yeah, right?!

It’s too bad the owner let the sweat go like this, especially on a rare hat like a Sport-Lite.
Hurts me deeply.
Just like that nice rare colored 7 1/2 Gay Prince you have up with the moth nips. So sad.
Sure wish the original owners could’ve been aware that some day in the future there would be a bunch of vintage hat enthusiasts/lunatics whose hearts bleed when seeing neglected, mistreated hats. :)

Though I snagged this’n two days ago that someone took real good care of:
