Aero? Simmons Bilt? Looking for my "Forever Leather Jacket"

I'm not saying this to rehash the whole history but given that Simmons Bilt jackets use Aero patterns, I think you're essentially comparing different models/sizes. There isn't a "Simmons Bilt fit" except for them changing some of the size labels resulting in things like a size 38 jacket with a 44" waist.
Just based upon my own personal experience (trying on Aero jackets and Simmons over the years) I get the feeling the Simmons Bilt tweaked the Aero patterns slightly. Again, this is totally random from trying on similar "styled" jackets of both(Custom made jackets not withstanding).

I'm not saying Aero is any less- it's just the several Simmons Bilt jackets that I've had the opportunity to try on have fit my body better, especially the back and shoulders. Conversely, I'm guessing someone who has broader shoulders and back would say Aero fits them better.

Regardless, I think this feed has run it's course... I just was interested in finding out how the Dude made out. Whether he found his special jacket or not.

Same here, Simmons Bilt patterns fit me better than Aero. I did try both on several occasions at different body weights.

The Aero patterns werethe worst I have experienced in European/US makers.

I'm still here. I'm still in the process of weight loss. I've lost about 15 pounds so far, and I'm slowly getting used to eating less throughout the day as I take some prescribed weight loss drugs. I've also managed to quit caffeine and soda. So it's slow going, but I'm hoping before the year is through, I'll have lost enough weight to look good in a jacket I like!

A milestone: I can now fit into the winter jacket I was too fat to fit into before! Still a bit snug, but still, I've lost about 4 inches off my waist.

That’s even better news than a well fitting leather jacket!

well done with your weightloss effort keep up the spirit, is caffeine a bad thing? i thought it has some good benefits when not consumed on empty stomach or too much. if you can.. just stop eating fastfood and soda forever.

I'm lucky to naturally dislike the taste of carbonated beverages perhaps I choked on cola the first time I drank it as a small kid or something that made me disliking them and generally has zero crave on any kind of food so I don't even have to stop myself, but I drink gallons of coffee though, so I can testify coffee won't make you gain weight.

but thinking again about a jacket that would be versatile and could be worn in all situation, perhaps it is a buttoned jacket something like a car coat but perhaps a bit shorter and the color is probably olive or sage or maroon or dark teal-blue with brown undertone. I think you will never get bored with those colors it also would put the jacket outside of stereotyped leather jacket and they will evolve into darker and warmer hue when the brown based leather develops patinas.

previously I would think about natural vegtan leather as a sole jacket journey since it has huge evolving promises but it is a very hard to love at the earlier stages , perhaps it will take 2 years to grow some caramel tone where it starts to get good.

Congratulations! Sounds like you’re on the right track. Yeah, stay away from soda. It’s just way too much sugar, our bodies are designed to absorb all that corn syrup. I rarely drink soda, but if I do, I’ll cut it with 50% water. Cheers!

What is soda in your country? Where I live, soda simply means water that has been carbonated. So nothing bad.

“Soda” in the English speaking world (chiefly American, if I am correct) is the equivalent of our “Limo” (i.e. Little to no fruit, lot of sugar).

In the USA, we say “soda water” or “carbonated water” for sweet “soft drinks” like Coke or Pepsi, we just say “soda” in some parts of the country they refer to it as “pop” or “soda pop”

Yeah, Soda in the US simply means a fizzy drink as I understood it. It's a running joke with American tourists arriving in Ireland where a soda is one of these:

I don’t ever remember ordering “soda” when I was in Ireland. Pints of Guinness yes! Soda nope.

Probably depends where you were - it's much more common in the North. Round the Causeway Coast, there's a lot of places do a 'soda burger' too - basically a loaded burger (onions, bacon, fried egg...) in one of these. The soda will either be toasted or, more traditionally, buttered and then lightly fried, buttered side down, in the same grease as everything else. If you have a cooked breakfast, in the North you'd traditionally have one of these, also potatobread, with it rather than toast.

Sounds wonderful, I wish I were there right now!

Hello! OP here, just giving an update. The weight loss is still going at a slow but steady rate. Started at 260 pounds, now at 230! That's 30 pounds down! People have been noticing the weight loss, and even my fingers have become less fat, so I have to get my favorite rings resized.

I think once I reach 210 (Maybe 215) I can finally start shopping in earnest for a quality jacket!

Don’t come here for your “forever jacket.”
Stay here and you’ll end up pushing in and out 20 jackets in 3 years. English, american, japanese… then vintage.
You’ll leave with a 70’s Bates cafe you scored off the bay for $125
... Oh dear.
