all I can say is that these are youd basic Dockers type pants and waists-- not cheap Wal-Mart stuff, but not high-grade dress pants either. Anyone try it with that sort of common pant?

Anyone here have experience with Y versus X suspenders? Which gives a more true vintage look for a regular office type situation?

I got a pretty basic grey tweed one from Hats in the Belfry in Annapolis while I was out there one weekend. It's a great hat for just knocking around or going to work on a windy day or having a run on the bicycle when it's chilly.

Judging by what's selling in the discount Target bin and the like, the hat should have a brim of about 1/16 of an inch. Call me out-of-touch, but I think they're ugly.

Suspenders I've been looking recently at converting from regular belt to suspenders for some of my stuff. This is going to be mostly jacket and tie level stuff for work. What would have to be done to the pants (usually dockers type stuff) for traditional suspenders to work? I'm not a fan of...

A couple work-overs with a hat brush did the trick. I got most of them with the brush the first time. I came back to it awhile later and tried again, getting the last of them.

Interesting point-- maybe I'll give one of the fur felt hats a go tomorrow (more showers/rain I hear). I'd had a black Stetson develop spots (they looked like dirt or grease almost) from being out in the rain. I wonder if DC rain somehow is dirtier or more corrupted than it is elsewhere. Maybe...

Well I've got a couple fur felt fedoras, but this hat is my knock-around bad weather hat. I did a quick re-spray tonight, I suppose given the nasty rain we'll have here the rest of the week it could use a retouch. Hopefully I'm set.

I have a Litefelt crushable fedora that I use for foul weather in the fall and winter. I treated it with Scotchgard liberally last year. Does anyone know if I need to re-treat each year or if I'm good to go this year.
