The collar is a funny shape and flops if you unbutton some buttons. I'd make another with a more standard collar shape. When I finished the jumper, I tried it on with a deep scoop necked t-shirt and it looked better.

gotcha - i noticed it had lot of buttons. I think we of the voluptuousness variety are not as flattered when fully buttoned up. Too much chest expanse I think.

I love high button oxfords.

This one is awesome!

I think the suspender straps might be a tad short. Isnt the fit of that high waist supposed to hit just beneath your bust? I dont wear that style so I have no idea.

The waist of the jumper hits me at my natural waist. If you look closely on the pattern drawing, you can kind of see a little shading for a bust right below the points. However, it's a junior's pattern, which means a smaller bust. The top of the pattern pieces definitely angle out to accommodate more flesh above the waist. Since I entered this into the contest and they have rules against major design changes, I kept it very close to the original. I'm still open to playing around with design changes for future jumpers.

I agree with LadyDay, when wearing a classic blouse, I like it buttoned up. I think the waistline falls nicely, too. Maybe the "chest expanse" that inky mentioned would be minimized by a slightly wider strap? I'm petite and always narrow my straps so they're not too chunky (I always have to narrow the shoulders of blouses as well). Overall a great casual outfit!

Several commenters have mentioned the width on the straps. I think that would be an easy thing to adjust without having to redraft the whole thing. I'm going to give it a shot.

I am currently making this. Using black satin backed crepe with a olive green contrast. The fabric has a lovely drape and it is all cut on the bias.

Going well so far. Will post when it is done. I have my housemate helping as she is an avid sewer and knows all the tricks of the trade. Has anyone else here made it?

A dress in April AND a skirt in May - that's a record for me

McCalls 4718 (1942) 12-gore skirt in a 100% cotton. I did make the wide waistband with the belt loops but it turned out a bit loose. I probably won't bother altering it, just wear it with a wide belt as in the picture.

Great skirt, inky! I live in cotton skirts and fitted tees over the summer - so easy to wear. BTW, I really love that buffet that keeps appearing in your photos!

BoPeep - I love skirts and fitted T's more than any other outfit. So versatile. I love our buffet too - we got it for a steal (small crack in one of the side mirrors and needs handles) but it matched our dining set very well and it's small and fit in the space - it was waiting for us less than 5 miles down the road - go figure!
