I made this yesterday. I really like it but it's a little big in the waist. I drafted the pattern from a straight skirt pattern I had rather than drafting from scratch. I am goning to wear this as far into fall as I can. I just need to find a slip. Next time I make it I will add a waist band. i love how the pockets turned out.

This is so cute! You know, since I've made those swirl style dresses I
more and more appreciate the wrap style, you never have a problem with the waist fitting! at least you didn't make it too small, that's usually the problem i run into, and harder to fix.

Posting two projects, one finished today and one from June which I have only just managed to photograph. Both 30s patterns.
First, a dotted voile blouse. The fabric and glass buttons are vintage and the pattern is one from our lovely Lauren. It looks alot nicer when it is being worn by a person rather than a mannequin. The sleeves are described as lantern sleeves, and they puff out nicely.
And secondly, a cotton evening dress. Modern fabric with dark aubergine coloured background my Mother sent me with a vintage buckle. This looks quite different from the pattern which was meant to have a cowl neck. It was gaping badly under the arms and NOT draping at the neck, so had to have tucks put in the front to get it to sit right! Actually, my boyfriend suggested the fix and pinned it all up, so clever him. It sits about ankle length on me. The skirt is cut on the bias and I couldn't cut it any longer, but it is good for dancing.

just finished this yesterday and wore it to a friend's party, should have pix of me in it sometime soon. the patterns was in the first stash of patterns from my mother (upper right in the photo) and the fabric is 100% cotton, $1.50/yd from walmart of all places... bought more fabric for the sleeveless version, brown with pink polka dots... I'm guessing it's a 50s patterns but I can't tell for sure. does anyone know? thanks in advance

yes sometimes the instructions are vague and frustrating, but they are at least marked as very easy on up, so you know know what to expect when you start (translation: "very easy" means not quite to the point of pulling your hair out lol )

These dresses are so wonderful, you inspire me to try to sew more, too. I wouldn't get such great results (also, it's hard to get nice fabrics where I live) but isn't it a good feeling to wear something you made yourself. You ladies do great jobs, thanks for showing the pics!
