YES!! Mk 46, that's what it was, or maybe it was a Mk 48... not sure. The name mixed me up because we also used Mark 46 ADCAP torpedoes.. talk about personal heat. Man I wish I had some pics of the M-16 with the grenade launcher attachment. As for the SOCOM... shhhh... I have to keep my super soldier status a secret.

I tried to slip it in my pocket and sneak out, but, they noticed. lol Oh well. I could always conceal it in a violin case.. well... maybe a trombone case.

And just a side note, that weapon was surprisingly light weight. I don't know exact weight or anything, but I was surprised.

The Mk 48 is SOCOM's 7.62 M240. The Mk 46 is about four lbs lighter than a regular M249.

Clevispin, we Marines called it a Blooper because of the sound it made when fired. It was a single shot that fired HE, Buckshot, and Gas. I think the Army called it the same thing. You used the words "in Country" tells me you may already know something about it?

Old Military advise.

Hopefully with the passing of HR218, giving police freedom to carry in all 50 states, a similar bill will pass giving law abiding citizens the same rights they deserve. I just recommend joining the NRA and pushing the issue with your senators. National concealed carry is not too far from reach…

Old Military advise, "Its better to have it and not need it / than to need it and not have it". All Police officers I know support the 2nd. but by reading most news papers a lot of citizens would'nt think so. Like the Redknight stated above, most of us do.

Too young to have been there but I have a good friend who spent some time there with the Herd as an FO/RTO. I've read a lot of stuff on the war and am a little gun nutty so the M-79 and what was done with it has always fascinated me. I've heard it referred to before as a "blooker" - same reason.

Without getting corny, I admire you guys - Vietnam grunts. You all took a lot more grief than other war vets and had the personal courage not to run north or defer. Thank you.

M, I volunteered so I got all the action I wanted but didn't volunteer for the kind of action that happened against us when we got back to the world (USA). I'm sure all that you've heard is true. Getting off the freedombird (airplane) in Calif. now that also took COURAGE! Now days with cable news and radio thak shows giving both sides of a story things have changed for the better. Americans should do anything and everything we can to make sure our Veterans don't have to come back home in that way again. I could go on and on but I'll stop by telling you and people like you, "MANY MANY THANKS".
