Not mine but the Sister of a work colleague, who has come back from a trip to New Zealand where she is originally from, this is her sisters Home, based on an old Bedford Truck, it is parked behind an old pub and they run a cable to run power from it, it does drive but is obviously not really roadworthy.

Yes. We found out this week that we will have to move again for sure. My husband gets his orders around Christmas time :(

Sorry to hear that, especially around the holidays. As an Army Brat, I got to move around a lot. I know it is tough.

Sorry to hear about your move Rue! Your house is one of the biggest inspirations on here and I know you'll make wherever you go a home just as cozy.
I came back over to this thread to share that my husband and I are buying our first house and closing is the 27th (of May)! It was built in 1930 and still has some of the great details (very mission style newel post, closet door knobs, etc). Buuuut, the piece de resistance is my 40's/50's mint green/seafoam tub and sink!!!!!!! Oh, and DH is letting me retro-ify the kitchen my way too! Right now the countertops are 60's orange laminate that although, authentic, is just not my thing, haha.
When I took my guardian to give it the once over and make sure it wasn't going to collapse around our ears, the owner's daughter was there (he died, she was the one selling). I guess I helped seal the deal because I couldn't hide my elation at all the original features, haha. She said prospective buyers literally ran away from that green bathroom: there aren't even pictures of it on the listing sites! Sad, sad, sad. Anyways, I'll be sure to post before and after pics once we finally get in there.

Wot ho, cannot remember if I posted this link before, but I just came across it again and thought I would share.

It is a local news story of our home featuring my wife. If you scroll half way down there is a video of the inside of our home.

This is phenomenally cool.

So... does your wife have a sister? :)

I love that you are actually able to make this work. I love the earlier style, but I am (I fear) too much of a technophile to actually ever be able to pull that off. Conversely, I do love the *style* so much. I wonder about ways to case the big TV and CD players in period wooden cases -- a sort of camo, as it were.

Sigh.

Oh, NO!

Man, I'd be gutted. Heck, I *am* gutted -- that house is marvelous.

I suppose the last thing you need now is us telling you that sort of thing, though; the move will be hard enough.

Where are you going to end up, do you know?

Thank you so much! We've worked really hard to bring it back to the way it was, so I appreciate it :D

Congratulations on your first house! I can't wait to see pictures :D

How big of a move, Rue?

We won't be living in the midwest :( So pretty big.

Yeah, like I said, I'm not happy about it. I really love this house and although at first I thought we'd stay here forever, I don't like the town it's in, so I knew we'd move in a few years. I didn't expect to HAVE to move though, because he only has 3 more years left until retirement.

I'm not sure yet, but he gets a wish list and we picked Prescott, AZ as number one, because it's close to our families, has old homes and because it gets snow and we also picked 5 places on the east coast, so I could still have snow. I love snow lol He gets his orders sometime in the next 6 months, so we won't really know exactly where for quite a while.

Well, Rue, maybe if you think of it as an extended "practice run" -- ;)

You said you still have six months -- how long after you find out where you're going do you actually go? That is, how much actual lead time do you have to find "the right place" in the new town?
