It's impossible to improve on perfection... this is his best song (IMO) if that was the only song he ever sung that's fine with me ... It's such a perfect song.

Elvis at his best .... it doesn't get better than this. Nothing compares...

It's interesting to note that many of Elvis's hits were of songs that were vintage back then such as Love Me Tender (Aura Lee) (1861), It's Now Or Never (O Sole Mio) (1898), and Are You Lonesome Tonight? (1927). Another one was That's When Your Heartaches Begin (1937).

1937 -- Shep Fields and his Rippling Rhythm Orchestra

1953 -- Recorded by Elvis at age 18

My friends and I were going through my fedoras today, and my buddy's girlfriend put on some Benny Goodman. It was nice to listen to some of the good stuff with other people in the room lol

On a somewhat related note Elvis was stationed in Germany from 1958 to 1960 while serving in the Army. As a sort of cultural backdrop here are Peter Kraus and Conny Froboess who were the big teen idols in Germany during the time Elvis was there. In fact Peter Kraus was originally billed as "the German Elvis"!

Peter Kraus -- Sugar Baby (circa 1958)

Conny Froboess -- Lady Sunshine Und Mister Moon (1962)

and here they are together

Peter Kraus, woohoo! He stiil is famous and a star in Germany! This guy still makes music and is turning 73 next March! Cornelia Froboess is now 68 years old, if I'm not completely mistaken. Lady Sunshine and Mister Moon is what we call an Evergreen - some radio stations in Germany play this song almost every day! The guy at the light machine is Peter Weck, a german actor and entertainer - also more than 70 years old right now...

"It's Now or Never" is adapted from the Italian standard, "'O Sole Mio" and inspired by "There's No Tomorrow" Tony Martin

Elvis Presley - It's Now or Never (1960)

'O sole mio - Ti lascio una canzone - cantano Boschetto, Ginoble e Barone

I posted this earlier, but, it is worthy of another post here. One of my favorite Elvis songs.:D
