Mine always seem to come out scholarly or menacing.

If your avatar photo is of you, that's a good look IMHO,but hey might as well try the Handle Bar if you don't care for it they are easy enough to get rid of,that's the part that sucks 3 or 4 months to grow and only 5 minutes to remove(haha)As for the wife well.........
PS. if you go to page 29 on best photos of yourself I've always had a fairly good stache, never did the Handle Bar though, just not my style.

Yes, that is me in my avatar. Thanks I agree that clean shaven is a good look for me (so does my wife). I get bored with the same look all the time and we agreed that in the winter I can experiment with facial hair. I still can't grow a full beard to save my life but I am pretty good at moustaches.

Phineas I wasn't necessarily meaning clean shaven I was more referring to the stache in the photo, that style looks good on you.Have to wait and see on the "Handle Bar".

Here is the only decent picture of mine, took about five months to get to this point and while I enjoy and will grow it out again I just trimmed it so I could enjoy my holiday meals more :).

I had been keeping my 'tache trimmed to a neat, pointed handlebar, but I let it grow out and now I'm not trimming it for a whole year starting the 1st of this month.

Never having tried a mustache before, I turned to this thread to get some ideas on how on earth to do it properly. Figured I’d give back by posting a photo before I slip up shaping it and cut it off.

I've tried growing a mustache but my wife complains it's to rough to kiss. I can have a five o'clock shadow by noon. Besides, if I let my facial hair grow the gray starts to come out.

Its certainly a process...

My sweetheart Tom has been sporting his version of a pencil moustache since October 2012 after getting two vintage tuxedos and starting to attend 30s-40s-dressed and
formal dances events. The pencil has really now come into its own by this point, Tom has learned how to shape it as best suited for his particular face, most especially the shape of his upper lip. After many configurations of moustaches and facial hair over the years, he's really enjoying the pencil and vintage look in general. Will take a picture soon.

Currently growing one. It's getting pretty good, and it's now with a van dyke beard for support. Basically Guy Fawkes style. My wife despises it, but I'm sticking it out at least for Guy Fawkes Day in honor of V for Vendetta! :D I'll post pics when I can.

It's been 25 years since I had a mustache and I restarted it on November 1st. for the Movember Awareness Month for men's health - prostate and testicular cancer. There were almost 40 of us growing mustaches - even my boss (she) had mustache earrings. The kids, a.k.a. our administrative residents, were particularly challenged. They could manage the current trend of the 5-day growth, but were pretty skimpy when it came to real facial hair and it took them two weeks.

Now that I have a full growth, I need to get it styled. I saw one of Alan Jackson's (CW music) album covers and his looked pretty good. I found a local chain of barber shops - yes, real barber shops (I think) - in Nashville that give real shaves and haircuts. No sports bar theme or foo-foo styling. If comes out half-way decent, I'll need to update my avatar and include a real fedora.
