I like mine too. They look ancient straight out of the box. Not for rain, though, which is why I quickly bought the Amber Harness as well.

How have you men found the sizing on the Muleskinners? 1/2 size down from Brannock sound right? There's a big sale, and I'm considering them for around $240.

I just went same size and use thin leather insoles for comfort.

I keep reading horror stories of long and painful break-ins with IRs, but I had none of that at all. I didn't notice a thing.

I'm convinced it's because I went for the normal size and use the insoles.

I'm between a 9 1/2 and 10D on the Brannock and I fit a 9 1/2 D in every Red Wing I've tried on. This is wearing a lighter wool sock, not a thin dress sock, and not a big thick wool winter hiking sock. My Amber Harness IRs are a 9 1/2D and I didn't have any discomfort breaking them in.

And it's been said before, sock choice can make a huge difference in how a pair of boots fit, and if they are a little loose, just go with a thicker sock. I have a pair of White's SJs that I sized specifically for thick winter socks. They are much too loose with anything else.

It has been a long while since I posted anything on FL. I would like to share some pictures of my customized Redwing Beckman 9012s. Since it was needed to resole them and put new heels on the monsters. I always wanted a little different look on them, since i didn't like the original roccia sole and redwing heels, so I asked my cobbler to put on a double leather sole, stacked leather heel and finish it with Vibram Chevron soles and heels.. I asked for a slightly curved heel, and polish the finish of heel and sole to a high sheen.. The result is dramatically different and so beautiful, I feel like resoling all my Redwings!! So, what do you think?

I have a pair of oxblood/cordovan colored 8166 that are in need of a new sole and I'm considering the same thing. Those turned out nice!

Be advised that the Amber Harness IRs are a perfect match for Aero chestnut Irvins and their battered brown FQHH. So the buying doesn't stop here, I'm afraid.

I like those soles. I'd be curious to hear how they wear. I believe Vibram labels those as "long wearing", but I'd like some real-life testimonials.

I received some Alden Indy boots last week. Construction was quite disappointing. If you get some by mail be prepared to inspect and return. I couldn't as they are a "Christmas present."

cobbler said it will take a long time for the soles to wear out... we'll see

not sure if your comment was for me, but hey, yes, they walk better actually then the original soles.. but, quite heavy.
