Charlie, Thank you! Yes this one has a very short brim. This form was popular in Central Europe at the time. It's a bit different than what you see in the later 1950s and the 1960s. The crowns are taller and you see less taper from the side view. The brims can vary in width but can have a high degree of flange.

I LOVE the rain!! I think So-Cal folks worry less about melting in it, and more about driving in it haha. PLUS I'm Asian, so I'm at risk behind the wheel no matter what the weather!
Anyway -- The D'Aquino or the L&C? Both are great hats! D'Aquino is a very sturdy and malleable hat, but the L&C is MUCH higher quality. I did have to re-tack the sweatband (which became totally undone shortly after I started wearing it) and that, in turn, necessitated a re-tacking of the ribbon (which had become lopsided over the decades, so I needed to re-tack it anyway). View from inside of the L&C:
The D'Aquino is certainly lower quality, but is still a strong and comfortable lid. I would compare the feel of the fur and sweatband to my Akubra Fed IV standard quality. After about two months, the ribbon at the sweatband seam started to fray, but since the ribbon in this case is mostly decorative, it's not a big deal to me. The liner is synthetic and the branding "D'Aquino Hats" on the crown of the liner has almost entirely faded. I was disappointed to see that the liner is glued at the crown, but I'm sure Luisa would have no problem skipping that step if you made it a requirement. Interior:
In short -- I love both hommies! If you find a Lock & Co in EUC, you'll certainly be pleased. If you're looking for a solid, inexpensive custom homburg for everyday wear and you want to skip the ebay shenanigans, then I would recommend D'Aquino 100%.

Those sound like challenges. I think that the answers are (or easily can be) "yes". Do I have to provide photographic evidence?
On the third and fifth, my understanding is a little unclear. Can I gloat and glower while wearing the hat? Or should I remove it beforehand?
Heck, you can wear it with a glower in the shower on a boat with a goat and then gloat. All at the same time. But I at least need proof of the goat.

We've got a place down here called "Good Times With Goats!" for goat aficionados (nothing sick or weird, just for folks who enjoy visiting and hanging out with goats). Interestingly, they make up a larger subset of the population than you'd think. Go figure!
In any event, I'll swing by sometime soon and get the evidence you need.

Weak, but facing the day I took inspiration from Davids morning post to don my Gannon Wanderer in blue. Love the blue felt. I headed outside for another short dog walk. Perhaps I can walk my flu away.
Grapefruit juice and chicken broth have steeled me to head back to work in a Cordova Cap.

Nice! These are the specs I gave to Luisa:
Size: 57cm
Brim flange: flatter profile - minimal (almost no) flaring from side-to-side.
Brim edge binding: gray to match the felt.
Brim width after curl: 2"
Crown: Standard homburg center dent.
Crown ribbon: black, 2" thick.
Crown height at sides: 5"
Crown height at dent: 4"
Crown not stiffened -- remain malleable/flexible so pinch eyes can be popped in or out depending on my mood.
Another side note -- the original ribbon she gave me was not my favorite. Instead of a 2" thick ribbon, she gave me a 1.75" thick ribbon with a .5" ribbon overlapped underneath it to give it the total 2" I requested. So I just sewed on my own ribbon =P
Also, I've mentioned it before in earlier posts but I was sure to specify no stiffening in this order. Before ordering my medium gray homburg, I bought a black hommie from her shop and it's stiffened beyond the point of being able to refold it =(

I'm pretty sure with the ribbing I get at the office that having a "special golden hat stand" at my desk would only add to the jokes. My hat stand is the bottom half of a brass candlestick with the threaded end screwed into a wooden round about 1/2" thick and about 5" in diameter. It's just tall enough to keep even my hats with the tallest crowns from resting on the shelf when I place them there.
