Saddle Stitched Leather Jacket

Hello everyone!

I haven't been around here much lately, as I've been busy with other things, but I thought I'd come back and share something special that happened recently.

I made a jacket for myself completely by hand! 111 hours went into this hand stitched beast of a project. It's made with Acadia Nubuck Sebago, and custom fit for me. The lining is cotton, and the sleeves are lined with a gold sateen. Oh, and buttons are on the way. I ordered some custom ZeeBee Leather buttons to bring it all together

Very cool.
Something like that, with less seams and no lining, I thought about it for a moment to agree that something like that surpasses my abilities a little bit.

110 hours! That's got to be the most expensive jacket ever posted here, other than auctioned historical jackets owned by famous people.

I couldn't agree more! lol. Nearly three weeks of labor, plus materials. Yikes!

It's definitely worth the experience if you're up for it. Very rewarding.

That is so cool! It’s amazing that you sewed all of that by hand. Actually saw it on Instagram but didn’t realise you were a TFL user. Well done! Will we get a fit pic as well?

Awesome! Yeah, I've been here for a while, but haven't posted much in the last several years *ducks* I'll definitely post some fit pics soon. I'm waiting for the light to be right outside

It was a marathon, for sure. I just learned that the lining is out of print and rather rare, so I'm glad I got some before the supply was all dried up!

I saw this on a leather working group on Facebook, it's awesome! I've been wanting to try my hand a jacket myself, you may have inspired me. I think I'll sew it on a machine though, my RA couldn't take that much hand stitching. Great job, I love it!

I don't even know what to say to that. Honestly didn't imagine it's even possible. You have my infinite respect and admiration and on top of that, the jacket you made is actually one of the nicest Type-3's I've seen.

Hats off to you. Excellent work all around. The lining is superb! Saddle stitching is no joke. Your fingers must be killing you!!

Late to the party. Fellow leatherworker here. Where did you get/how did you make the pattern? I have looked several times over the years, but was never able to find any decent patterns. I wouldn't have been looking for truckers necessarily, but if you've got a good source, maybe they'll have other styles as well.
