This Laphroaig isn’t rather peaty as well, in my book less than a Bowmore Darkest or Bowmore Tempest for example.
The hardest kick in my face so far have been some Port Charlotte, already a neat regular 10 at „only“ 50% ABV pulls some more teeth than this Laphroaig at 60.1%...

On the banks of the Karakung.

Received a bottle of Bushmills Millennium on my 50th birthday. It only comes out to play on my birthday and even then it's just a short one in a Glencairn glass. Dip the neck in wax and back it goes to into a dark cupboard. It's worked for 19 yrs. Now the spirit. Smooth sweet oak that just gets more like family each March 4th.
I like my Red Breast, love my Connemara but that Millennium is a religious experience.

Bushmills holds a special place in my heart. We stayed in the town for a few days and really enjoyed our time in the town and at the distillery. Had the best meal ever at the Bushmills Inn.....Ulster Beef pot pie. We make it at home a few times each year and reminisce.

Just took a first dram, simply very good. Loads of Calvados on top, nose and palate. Tastewise tons of apples, malted barley sweetness, must have seen some fine Bourbon wood, medium bodied. No complexity wonder but what it does is very high quality.
Imho way better than everything of Mitchell‘s spot series I tried so far.

The wee additional percentage compared to many of the usual Irish suspects and the slightly rustic Calvados edge keep the small, interesting and refreshing difference to many overpolishied tripe distilled. All of course only my very subjetive impressions.
