best place to get a panama under $100?

I was just wondering where, if anywhere I could get a decent panama under $100. I was going to get a white PB indy straw but, after seeing the ones posted on here in brown I think I will get one of those for next year. I have a shorter brim panama that I don't think looks good. Short brims don't work for me I think.

Not sure if it is a touchy subject at this point, but I would check with "Panama Bob," www.panamas.biz. I have purchased 4 hats from him, of varying qualities, and have been extremely satisfied with all of them. Do a site search for panamas and you will find several threads that basically ask/answer the same question.

You can always search Panama Hats on Ebay. You'll easily find a Panama under $100.00. Just be certain you understand the diffreneces in quality and check out the sellers. Beware of Buyer's Remorse.

A word of warning.

The problem with Ebay is many sellers pawn off a Cuenca Panama hat as a Montecristi Panama hat. I have found unless you know your seller you can be taken.

Just because a box or a rubber stamp says made in Montecristi does not make it so. You see alot of hats in a small wooden box saying made in Montecristi on the Ebay and they are a $6.00 bleached Cuenca hats. When I say $6.00 I might be quoting high.

I notice panama hats direct also sells on ebay. Are they a good dealer? I may get one of the inexpensive ones for my wife. I would rather get her a cheap one to see if she will wear it than get a nice to never be worn. (Especially when that could be another fed!)
