Do You Carry A Lucky Talisman?

I almost said no

I used to have a lucky rabbit's foot that was dyed orange

For a while I carried a half dollar as a sort of talismen.
I guess the only unusual object I've carried steadily for twenty or so years is a handcuff key. That could be lucky.

Not superstitious. I don't believe in good or bad luck. I do carry a cross around my neck to remind me of Christ's sacrifice. It is a Celtic Cross that I wear. It reminds me also of my Scottish heritage.

Not for luck but when I was about 6 I (all by myself) bought my daddy a key knife, it's a little knife that folds inside of a fake key with the words "I Love You Daddy" imprinted on the front and back. When my dad died, my mom gave me the key knife and I carry that with me. That and his nail clipper which he kept on his key chain.

As for me, I carry a gnome from the Grotte di Postumia on my penknife. It belonged to my Italian grandfather who also carried it around with him for good luck. Just maintaining a family tradition...

Never leave home without...

My trusty Swiss Army knife but not for luck. I also wear a small cross made of Teak wood I got when the wife and I were in HI to celebrate our 10th anniversary. I've worn it ever since.

A cheap silver necklace

I've had this thing probably since middle school. When I wore it, it was always a good day. I've probably lost this thing about 20 or more times over the years but it keeps turning up, sometimes in some bizarre places [huh] I don't wear it anymore but keep it in my jewelry box...no matter how pathetic this piece of jewelry now looks, I just can't seem to get rid of it!

Talisman?

I have my own superstitions but I don't believe in Talismans, seems for me such things do not work. I have some things that I have carried for years like my ballistic nylon wallet from Assault Systems, it must be nearly 20 years old amd still in pretty good shape. I tend to shred leather wallets.

The concept of Good Luck and Bad Luck to me is connected to personal Aura. Some people like my brothers wife has much more "good luck" then I ever have. I am still waiting on some sort of Big Win at Vegas, but it stimply hasn't happened. Somebody has to keep those lights lit.

Just my opinon here:

Talisman is by definition something to protect, ward off evil or illness. I may be wrong, but my talisman(s) isn't a bringer of good luck since luck is like karma: you do good things, then good luck follows.

I carry a putsi, which in and of itself is a sort of talisman: it's color means something, the decorations mean something else, and the fact I spent alot of time on it makes it personal (something akin to a voodoo doll). What's in it does different things (also seriously personal) although every putsi has certain things in them: iron to ward off fairy visits, a decorated mirrored disk to prevent il malocchio, and several other things in which to explain them would take a book, so I'm not going to. Some don't mean anything in the general sense, they're personal and important to me. Some mean a great deal in folklore (like the vial of mini white rosebuds), and some are a mishmash of folklore things (like the voodoo doll I do carry around, and the origami Buddha). Some protect against illness, some from fairies (not that I believe I'm going to be carted off by a fairy, bear in mind, rather from the idea of glamour not being able to fool me), something to prevent the viewing of auras...it's a bunch of small objects that are supposed to do a certain thing that is beneficial to my person. Does it work? Dunno. I lost it for a while got diagnosed with cancer, told I had 6 months to live, went through a custody battle that I tried to kill myself over (cause 6 months seemed too long to wait, you know?), had my relationship ruined with my mother...just generally alot of crap dumped on me in a very short time. I found it, and started carrying it again and I don't have cancer, my ex got tired of my son, and my mother is still a nut bag. But I deal with it better. And logically it's a coincidence, but face it, I lose it=bad I find it=cope-able.

Yes, I am aware it sounds crazy. But at least I haven't been carted off by Big Foot yet.

How big is this putsi? Sounds like you could ward off most evils just by whacking them with it. lol

I have carried the same swiss army knife, the explorer, with the phillips head screwdriver that comes out the end instead of the back and scissors, for 31 years. I did not carry it for luck, but have used it to occasionally change my luck. Long ago I had a key fob a girl gave me for luck. The knife worked better and lasted longer.
