I am my fattest

ever. So this is very inspiring!
Zaika, 7.5 inches! Damn! I salute you!

I have far too many nice clothes in my closet to be this big.
I gained about half again my body weight in the past 15 years... it is depressing. And unhealthy.

So I am glad to see the supportive community here!

If you say it in centimeters it's even more impressive. Let's see, 7.5 times 2.54 equals 19.05 centimeters! That's 190.5 millimeters! But seriously, that's a terrific accomplishment. The last few years, as my metabolism has slowed down (almost to a standstill, actually) my waistline has gone the opposite direction of Zaika's. I don't much like it. I'm also concerned about blood sugar issues. I don't want to be another of those older people dealing with type 2 diabetes. Sugar in particular, and white food in general are the enemy. Sugar should be thought of as a dangerous addictive drug, it's that bad for us.
I don't know what it will do to make me more beautiful, but I sure think getting healthy will make me feel better and live longer.

Since July I have gone done from 245 to 220!! Yahoo. I contribute it to the wonderfulness of having to walk a gazillion miles back and forth at work pushing a shopping cart full of equipment and tools, being too hot to eat a to much which has gotten me in the habit to now with the cool weather to eating small meals, and the wonderful drugs for my head which also has a side effect of weightloss.....awww drugs...how I love thee! And the count and inches are continously going down down down!!!

I recently lost about 7 lbs. I didn't really NEED to lose the weight, but I did gain quite a bit over the past year and didn't like the fact that I had to struggle to get into my girdle and pencil skirt. I'm also only 5'2" and I feel like at that height, gaining one pound for me is like gaining 5 for a taller person.

I basically did it by becoming a lot more conscious of what I eat. I make sure to get as much protein as possible (that's something that was really lacking in my diet before) and keep the snacking to the minimum. I've also stopped drinking those 300 calorie coffee drinks everyday (I wish I didn't have to quit, but my IBS was not enjoying the daily dose of coffee!), which has probably helped me out a bit as well.

I really should take up exercising, but for now I'm satisfied with where I'm at.

Well, I'm 5'6" and I was almost 150 at my very most during high school and year afterwards. I would eat anything and everything. I was brought up that you finish what you have on your plate. Then I realized that I needed to change my ways. I started off working out to exercise tapes like Turbo Jam and changing my eating habits. That only helped me lose 10 lbs. which I was for three years. And then I went on Nutrisystem since I didn't have time to exercise and started gaining weight again since going to work and school from 8am- 10:45pm M-F. I eat the meals during the weekdays and go out for food on the weekends. I went from 140 to 126. I like the fact that the nutrisystem taught me how to portion my meals and I eat every 2 hours so I'm not hungry. When I go out for food my bill is half the amount since I eat less. I like it so far.

Hey,

I did this very popular diet in holland called sonja bakker,

I lost almost 10 kilo's, and now I'm eating in this style of my diet.

It's not a difficult diet, just follow her book and lose weigth.

I started to do situps and things like that.

And I'm walking my dogs a couple times a day for at least a half our.
And when I'm going to work I'm biking for 15 minutes and then also back.

I'm a hairdresser so in my work I walk a lot so i don't go to the gym.

I'm 5'7" and I weighed 129 lbs in the Army. After my first baby I weighed 146 lbs and (finally) had real woman curves and breasts for the first time ever...(I went from a size A to a size D)

Diet's don't work and the Army exercise was really tough on my body. So I just use moderation. I make sure I'm outside at least once a day and if it's too cold to play with my baby I bundle us up and take a fast but fun walk.
I also eat what I want but ONLY IN MODERATION. If you eat potato chips and drink a soda....don't eat anything else fattening that day. If you eat chocolate one day...eat a salad the next. Oh yeah...and Dark Chocolate isn't bad for you and it's not fattening...so if you like the richer flavor you can indulge all you want. I ate a whole bar one Valentines day and didn't gain a pound.

Salads don't have to be boring or "yucky" either. Add a boiled egg or some grilled chicken or salmon and they are VERY yummy. I made the cravings stop when I ate a steamed egg every morning. The protein keeps you from being very hungry 'till your next meal so I don't bing.

My only other tip (which works the best for my waistline) is too use a bowl or a cup...If you are snacking NEVER eat out of the bag. When the bowl is finished wash it and put it away and you won't need seconds.:)

I unfortunately put on weight while my husband was home to the tune of about 10 or 15LBS. What bums me out is how unmotivated I am! I like to SAY I do yoga, but who am I kidding?? I need to realize that READING health magazines and WATCHING yoga videos is not acually DOING IT :) I do love tennis, but I have no one to play with. I DON'T run as it is too embaressing to run a half mile and have to stop. I do like walking and biking, but I have no bike yet.

For me, it is not about the actual amount I weigh in number form. I guess it is more about how I feel. Like I am comfortable in the size I was, an 8-10. I don't have these grand ideas about being a waif. I just want to be happy. That is the hardest part. Being accepting of yourself (while still making an effort to be healthy)

I am taking CLA with each meal. "Various antioxidant and anti-tumor properties have been attributed to CLA, and studies on mice and rats show promising results in reducing mammary, skin, and colon tumor growth; however, it is suspected that sufficient concentrations to achieve anti-inflammatory effects within human tissues may not be attainable via oral consumption. Studies on CLA in humans shows a tendency for reduced body fat[6] particularly abdominal fat, changes in serum total lipids and decreased whole body glucose uptake. The maximum reduction in body fat mass was achieved with a 3.4 g daily dose[7]. "

I admire every woman here who wants to better themselves, in body and mind, and every woman who has put in the hard work, frustration and has reached, or is reaching, their goals.

You made some really great pointers about using the bowl. Very true. Also, I think it helps to have ONE snack food. That way you don't deprive yourself.. then go out and binge on even more. Also, I hear that diet soda can be even worse than regular. I am not a huge soda fanatic. I will have one occasionally (maybe once in a few weeks). There are two magazines I love to read---- Women's Health Magazine (although I think it focuses too much on the "perfect" body image but has great recipies and articles) and Body & Soul( which is organic-y, healthy foods, home remedies for beauty)

I just bought a fluidity. I can't wait to start using it. It looks fun and sort of easy, and targets the areas that are hard to lose. (Beneath the arm, the butt, etc)

http://www.fluidity.com/Default.asp?Page=howitworks.asp

I used to do ballet in grammar and high school, and I love having a dancer's body. I can't look at the scale anymore, it makes me crazy.....like crackhead crazy.

Long lean muscles are my friend, that and I take Omega 3-6-9 before I go to bed every night. It also improves skin texture and tone.

I just recently tried the lemonade cleanse for 10 days and lost 7 real pounds of fat. It was a little tough, but so far they stayed off!

I agree with the diet soda...and it tastes bad. If you want a soda you can get seltzer water and your favorite juice and mix the two together...It's REALLY good. It was an accident too cause I messed up my son's birthday party punch and that's how I "fixed" it.

I also agree with not depriving yourself of your favorites 'cause you will binge on something else that may be just as un-healthy and not at all satisfying.
I will take a look and that Body & Soul mag it looks great!
:eek:fftopic: I love your avatar...is that you? and you said "while your hubby was home" in your other post...are you a military wife...I was until this last March and he's home from Iraq to stay. HOORAY:eusa_clap

I checked out the website... that looks really simple but effective. I am just not conviced that I would have results like those shown.

I have never been one to go on "crash" diets or cleanse diets. I worry about how healthy they really are and I am unsure if the weight would stay off. Nothing too radical for me :D

I am going to try it dilligently for 3 months. See how it goes. It should arrive in a few days, so I am excited to try it.

When I did the lemonade cleanse, I knew it would screw up my metabolism a little, but I needed to quit smoking. The detox helped. I only ended up gaining back 3 lbs after I stopped.

I was just going crazy from trying to quit smoking. It is the HARDEST thing I had to do. :(

PHISH! Heck no :) My avatar is Marilyn Monroe. Although I would not mind having a classic pin-up body! And yes, my husband is in the National Guard currently- he was active duty Army when he first started 10 years ago. Andy is in Afghanistan right now. All my hard work to look nice (which took me 10 months) all went to heck when he came home. Now I only have 4 months to fix it!

I enjoy both magazine immensely!

Hooray for you! I can't imagine how hard it is to stop smoking. Just think of how much healthier you will be now.

It is so funny how all the beautiful actresses from the 40's and 50's kept their looks so wrinkle free when all that some of them did was SMOKE! I don't get it?

Today smoking is the social kiss of death.

:eek:fftopic: God Bless your Husband and lot's of luck with the weightloss hun.

P.S. Go out with your girlfriends as many nights as possible between now and then...not to drink but to dance...you'll lose probably 5-7 pounds in about 4 weeks. Oh and if you do have a drink make it light beer or flavored water some bars and clubs carry.

Good luck:)

Makeup, Makeup, Makeup...and black and white photography can disguise quite a few blemishes.

Good for you by the way...the only thing that made me stop smoking this time is the fact that I'm pregnant again.

That is the one primary reason I quit. (Well, that and the health factor)

My boyfriend and I want to get pregnant soon after we get married. I can't even think of being near smoke when that happens!
