I do take issue with calling it a stupid question. I think a lot of times unkindness can be gotten away with in the supposed couching of "being honest" or "telling it like it is". I didn't read any of that as "tongue in cheek" either, as tone is very hard to read in typed form. There's a way of saying you don't like the question, and saying why, in a respectful way instead of saying (for instance) why do you want to watch a movie on your last day on earth and isn't it stupid that you asked us that I'm just an honest person for telling you so.

Yeah, like yourself I am the type that calls it how I see it, and yes, it is still a silly thread.

It would be a toss-up between either _The Man Who Would Be King_ or _Sullivan's Travels_.

The first on the transegence of life and the value of good friends. (Not to mention Jarre's wistful, melancholic twist on "Will Ye No Cam Back Again?" combined with "The Minstrel Boy")

The second on the importance of humour in getting through life and on how good it is to laugh in company.

Please folks, if you don't like the way someone answers a question on someone else's thread, it's best to refer it to one of the friendly neighborhood bartenders rather than trying to moderate the thread yourself.

No one on here has a right to quantify others' answers to threads except for the staff who are employed here for precisely that. -And we provide a wide latitude for all sorts of self expression!

I would hate to have to close this thread down.

If we don't like people's answers to the thread, then move along. There are plenty of others.

Okay, I know it's already been posted but, I would probably be watching The Princess Bride as well. I think it's right up there with a lot of the classics. It's well made in all respects, and it reminds me of my wedding day (the end credit song was the song my husband and I chose for our first dance as a married couple).

Fantastic thread idea, btw. I'm enjoying reading the variety of film styles that people enjoy.

As many others have said I'd be out living my last day to the fullest. Possibly going out with the biggest bang possible

However providing both my arms and legs are broken and I can't be wheeled outside, I'd say I'd enjoy the Indiana Jones movies in order as they have been my favorite movies ever since I was a little kid. Then if I still had time left and still couldn't move toss in some Steve McQueen flicks and Stooges for good measure.

As I was carried out, the house doctor would mutter: "People come...people go...nothing ever happens."

Well, in the catagory of romantic, screwball comedies, I've always been particularly fond of Bringing Up Baby and My Man Godfrey (the William Powell and Carole Lombard version).

My choice would be 'The Great Waldo Pepper' with Robert Redford, Bo Svenson and Susan Sarandon.

I have terrific memories of that movie from when I was young; it was a favorite of my late father's, and we enjoyed watching it together with him many times throughout my life.

I'd want to watch it again one last time, so that when I get to where Dad is, the memories would be fresh and we could reminisce about it again.

Yes. A good movie indeed LZeitgeist. I'd probably wind up watching Casablanca as well (not very original, I'm afraid). But I really like Sam's rephrasing of the question. To have to make the choice of one movie of all the greats would likely be a reasonable definition of :rage: :rage: HELL:rage: :rage:
