Two pairs of shoes! Lauren, can you date these?
Black suede:
I've never seen a heel like that, like a modified wedge. These may end up being too big for me, but I hope not!
Red leather:
Something about these look a little 1950s or 1960s to me, but I'm just not sure. I've really been looking for red shoes for a LONG time, though, and it's great to find some without skyscraper heels. And... these may still end up being a little too small. They may be showing up in the Classifieds with the black ones, if I have really lousy luck.
My own Daniel Green slippers, at long last! I've been looking for flats or wedge ones, which has just made it trickier. I love heels and wear them all the time, but somehow I just can't wear them at home. I just move differently at home and don't like to wear heels there. But without slippers I'm in peril of running my stockings... These ones really should fit.
Overshoes! Not black rubber; light yellow vinyl. But they work! Cuban heels, and the elastic is a lot more forgiving than the snaps or zippers on other ones. I don't have fat ankles, but wearing a higher heel keeps other styles from closing. We have a 40% chance of severe weather today and tonight (and regular storms through Thursday), so they may be getting baptized soon.
This is really cool: a black rayon twill raincoat, probably from the 1940s.
Seams pinked, old-style label, set-in sleeves (not raglan), buckle belt (not tie), back kick pleat (not slit), functional lapels that button... I'm pretty excited. There's fading on the seams (this IS rayon) and the seller suggests a dye pen. What's that?

The Complete Book of Sewing by Constance Talbot, from 1943. There was a reprint from 1947 on auction at the same time as this with lots of pictures, and it went for a whole lot more!
Today's Clothing, from 1949. Lots of wardrobe advice and sewing tips - 547 pages! I got this for a lot less than I would've expected. Some pictures:
Kenmore Complete Simplified Sewing and Designing, from 1931. Nearly 300 pages, definitely more technical in nature. It's fascinating to see subtle fashion differences between the 1930s and 1940s. I'm also ridiculously pleased because my own sewing machine is a Kenmore.
And last but not least, this booklet on tailoring. I've got a couple of suits coming up, and I'm wanting to pay closer attention to technical details than I do sometimes. And I have little experience with suits anyway.

I've been drinking tea at work (never have liked coffee) but of course it gets cold through the day. And Texans like cold tea, but lukewarm isn't my favorite. So I started looking at tea cozies and before I knew it, I had this!
I have no idea how old this is or even if it's truly a teapot - something about it says "restaurant service ware" - but it's darling and has been a lot of fun to use.

I love the whait collar. I am not sure if I should get a beige, black or white slip for it. I also got a late 40's secretary type dress for $.99 on ebay. I love ebay latley.

Ack! DeadPan, that is beyond adorable!! I vote white to go with the collar, but black would look more subtle.
