The [new] dramas also will emphasize stronger female characters, with the female-driven "The Ex List" replacing "Moonlight" on Fridays and drama "The Unit" adding a female character.
"Women drive network television," Tassler said. "Women watch our procedurals and comedies and we wanted to build on that. We've added more female faces to the network."

Tonight is the season finale and probably the end of the show as my wife read it is being dropped.
The networks don't know who wants to watch what otherwise we wouldn't be overrun by "reality" crapola shows. I am certain they have chimps throwing darts to chose shows.

The complete series will be released Jan. 20, 2009, after the holiday season as earlier predicted. The four-disc set will contain all 16 episodes, but no details on what sort of bonus material will be included (if any) have been released.

Ah, Paisley, I have to thank you for posting a link to this in the Twilight sub-forum. I'd never heard of this show up until now and it's very interesting even though I'm only on the first episode.

I'm still so angry at CBS for screwing this up. At first I didn't like the show or see much potential, I felt it was a Forever Knight rip off, and the storylines weren't doing it for me yet. But I kept watching and later in the season there were some very good, original storylines with new angles on the vampires, bloodlines, etc. And some fascinatingly good new characters... I won't mention though, since I don't want to spoil for anyone who hasn't watched that part of the season yet.
And then just as the show got really really good, they pull the plug... it had already been cancelled, rewritten, reworked, etc., and then whe nthe writer's strike hit I think they just gave up... right when the Twilight craze was starting to get people into vampires again. Stupid programmers! Argh.:rage: They would have gotten new viewers! But noooo...
I've been watching the reruns again on SciFi channel. I almost don't want to, knowing that just as it gets really intense it will end! Woe! It's like when they made Vampire: The Masquerade (which apparently larpers of the game hated, but I do not LARP and I did not have that sullying my view of it), one season, and it was over.

Moonlight is ok. Shame it will be, like many of you say, probably replaced by something a hundred times worse. The bit I liked in it was the link with the 40' s or 50's (can't quite remember now) to do with the past life of the main character; and in one of the episodes there was this most beautiful satin gown, very femme fatale, I loved that! Thinking of it, I believe the action was supposedly taking place in the 50's, but that gown seemed of earlier fashion to me, that's why I keep thinking of the 40's! To top it up it was all set in this beautiful art deco looking place!

I think that must have been Mick's ex wife, Coraline. They met in the early 50s.

We didn't even get a season of it over here. It was shown on channel 9 during the summer non rating period in January '08. My sister put my wife and I on to it, and we really enjoyed it. The ironic thing about it all is that I usually find all that vampire stuff pretty silly and I'm not usually inclined to give it the time of day, but this program got me in from the first episode I saw.
I should point out that what passes for television programming here in Australia is a system dedicated to only ever showing half of a new show. Just when the viewers get interested, the program in question gets put on at a later and later timeslot (even the high-rating Sopranos ended up being shown at %&*#% midnight in its final season! :rage: ) and then one day the show just vanishes never to be seen again on network TV (Torchwood anyone? Smallville, perhaps?).
Only stupid-as-can-be reality shows, the football, grisly crime shows and endless re-runs of the Simpsons are safe of Aussie TV.

I'm hoping more and more shows are going to be online. You can watch them anytime with fewer commercials--and better reception if you don't have cable. There's a way of hooking up your TV to your computer; that's what I'm planning to do.
I know what you mean about moving time slots. I used to like to watch Titus, but almost every week he was on at a different time. That was another acclaimed show that was canceled (Moonlight won a viewers' award for Best New Drama, so naturally, it was canceled).
