Finished watching The Strangers. Its one of those films that leaves you wondering at the end, but I still liked it ok.

Our show this week is "Sunshine Cleaners," with Amy Adams and Emily Blunt as two ineffectual sisters who open their own crime-scene cleanup service. It's desperate to be a Lovably Quirky Indie Comedy/Drama a la "Little Miss Sunshine" (produced by the same folks, so it's understandable), and for the most part it works. A few spots try too hard, but in general a good picture. Not doing much at the box office, but May is the slowest month in the movie business.

I've become a real fan of Amy Adams, for what it's worth. She's one of the few current movie stars who I could see fitting easily into a Golden Era production.

The Cotton Club

I had to have a repair (already?!) on my Panasonic Plasma so when it came back i celebreated by watching: The Cotton Club which is not the best movie ever but it holds a certain fascination for me and provides great enjoyment. Story is ok to great in parts, the dancing and music are top notch and the clothes are a marvel to see. Add late 20's early 30's gangsters and some violence, what's not to like.

I would also add the sound track CD is a great one to have.

Star Trek

As I reported in the thread on this subject, I just saw an early screening of the new Star Trek movie. Ordinarily, I don't repeat myself in multiple threads, but I liked it enough that I'm going to see it at least once more. That will be one for the post in the New Star Trek thread, and one for this post.

Oh, and if you like Star Trek or action/adventure and sci-fi movies in general, definitely go see this one and don't wait for it on home video. The big screen and powerful sound system will enhance the experience.

"Southern Comfort" I watch this one a lot.
It is on "Indieplex" tonight on cable. Keith Carradine, Powers Boothe and Brion James. Really good action flick, good cajun music and a Ry Cooder soundtrack. The next time you see it on your cable TV listing check it out.

"Murder at the Vanities" 1934. It's a murder mystery set behind the scenes of a musical. Kitty Carlisle, Duke Ellington... I loved itl It's one of the pre-code films recently released in a boxed DVD set from Universal. There's nice little surprise included with the DVDs: a copy of the amended Production Code, June 1934.

Mongol: The Rise of Genghis Khan (2007)

Mongol is a great film, made in Russia, fantastic battle, horse back scenes.
Does not tell the full story of Genghis Khan, only the beginning.
he reminds me of Crazy Horse, great warrior. Excellent film :eusa_clap

I'm almost certain it's set to be a trilogy. I saw this one in a theater and it was great.
