Fantastic...love that color and that wide ribbon, and the way they work together! I may just have to order a Jazzman next, given how good they look...what a time for California to run out of money--and me a state employee!!!
Boodles, could you list those "hat supply vendors with lots of pugs" here, perhaps with links to their sites? I found it difficult to find pugs online...the link I provide above to Shushan's was really the only one I found with any variety.
:arated: I agree with Jauntyone. My first fedora was a Saxon in walnut, and I thought it looked pretty good...until I got my first Fed IV. Then the Campdraft. Then the vintage Adam from Johnnyphi...now when I go back to the Saxon, I find I can't wear the tapered crown. So, good place to start...
Whippet on its way!
Just got the e-mail I've been eagerly awaiting...an invoice from Vintage Silhouettes on PayPal! Art tells me that my lightweight blue smoke Whippet is on its way...my dogs and I will likely be sitting on the front stoop daily until that package arrives. I'll post pics when...
Mahogany Bill is right, Kreissaege...more and more people are wearing hats, and as you've discovered, those that don't often feel compelled to comment on them, usually in the positive, in my experience. I've only gotten one "hey, Indy!" (which was said kindly), and many "You look dapper!" and...
Sorry for the slow response, Goose, but just discovered your post. Now what you really have to do for us is get a pic of yourself in that shirt and in a red Ferrari. You can choose the hat you wear for the photo, but these look like good candidates.:D

I hope the new Paul's is a gold mine for you ladies, and is a great success to boot.
Wish I could make it up for your shindig, but am back to teaching again after summer break. I do hope to be in San Francisco during the first weekend in October, though, and if that's the case, I'll certainly...
I'll add my 2 cents here:
Answer, IMHO: YES.
If I go to a car dealership to test drive a car, it's the salesman's job to sell me the car. That doesn't mean I have to buy it from him. If I'm smart, I'll consider his offer and then do some research. Rather than buy on the spot, I'll check out...
Bolthead, fantastic hat and tie...this is for you:

Agreed, RBH--my Miller (the Danville in cocoa) is my all-around summer hat...the crown is stiff, but the 3" brim is fairly loose now, not quite floppy. I'm pretty pleased with it, too.

Ok, after searching for a vintage milan, with no success, I tried out some of Biltmore's milans through Hats Plus. Great customer service and they fully refunded my $$$ when the Biltmores didn't work (of course, I was out the cost of shipping, but those are the breaks with...
Hi Aristaeus,
Yes, it's still for sale--tried sending you a private message, but you're new to the site and can't do that yet. Once you've posted 15 times, you can receive pm's--so post some comments on threads and we can get into details.
It'll cost me $10-$12 to ship in the continental...
Fantastic! I'm usually not a fan of the Hollywood brim, but you've made me reconsider--this looks great on you. Is that the 2 3/8 brim of the Jazzman? It looks wider. Love the blue smoke and that wide ribbon! :eusa_clap
Welcome, Gusman! Great questions asked in your initial post; we've all asked them at one time or another on this site.
I agree with those who suggest you begin with Akubra. I made the newbie mistake of buying two modern Stetsons (the Saxon and the Chatham) before discovering this site...
