New VS Steel Whippet Clone
Ok, as promised, here are some mediocre photos of a fantastic fedora. I received the whippet clone, in steel standard-weight felt, on Friday, and it's everything I'd hoped for. I wanted a darker grey with some blue tones that I would wear through the winter in so...
New Steel Whippet coming soon...
Thought I'd give this thread a bump...how could it possibly be so far back on the list?? I just received a whippet clone in steel standard-weight felt from Art (my second from his house of magic), and it is absolutely amazing. Will get pictures up very shortly...
Thanks for the kind comments on the Resistol Jet, everyone...I should have a new slate whippet clone from Art to show off here soon...
And Jimmy, good eye--that's an artist's proof of Shag's "Blue Miles" behind me. We're big fans of Shag's art!

Bummer, Quapaw! In my experience, Hats Direct has been quite strong in customer service, so hopefully you'll get full satisfaction on a return from them. They should take care of you on this. Good luck on a quick resolution...

Resistol Pincher--late 50s/early '60s?
Just posted this on the New Hats thread, but thought I ought to add it to the Resistol Roundup, as well:
Found at the monthly Long Beach (CA) Antique Fair for $30: It's a Resistol Jet, probably from the late '50s or early '60s (I'm guessing the latter)...
Vintage Resistol "Pincher"
I haven't been on the site much in the past couple of months...the semester has been crazy and Thanksgiving is the first real break I've gotten. So, I'm happy to return with photos of a new hat I spotted at the monthly Long Beach Antique Fair last weekend (yeah, I...
Sorry to hear that the brim size wasn't accurate, Metropd...bummer. But I picked up one of these last spring in a local antique shop and quite like it, even though it's one of the shortest brims I own. Mine is green with a green ribbon, but otherwise same liner, felt, and sweatband. The crown of...
Very cool...especially reproducing the ribbon in another color! And good for you for braving the naptha...I've wanted to clean some hat but soaking a hat in that stuff just freaks me out!
I'm already feeling the urge to get back on the ride. But I'll wait at least a day or two. :D
Thanks, everyone, for your comments! Now I know firsthand what a craftsman Art Fawcett is. Thanks, Art!

Sounds like a fall/spring fedora in PA, NB...I could wear mine evenings here right now, but during the day it's still too warm for a couple of months. It will be perfect for late fall into late spring for the southwest.
Check out the Fedoras and Hawaiian Shirts thread, and you'll see that fedoras are pretty versatile. Have fun with your hat(s)...and welcome. There are great people on this site who will give you lots of fantastic advice.
My first Art Fawcett VS has arrived!
What an time for the package to get here...I was planting in our back yard, full of mud and sweat, and the U.S.P.S. arrives...had to actually hold off until I'd finished my work, showered and cleaned up, so that I could open that package. Man, what a test of...
Very cool, Boodles. I found Shushan's customer service and quick shipping fantastic...and they had the widest variety of pugs I could find. And they've added some new ones since I was on the site, including some cool geometrics. Might have to make another purchase...try posting those photos!
Alex, I'm glad to see you mention this store. I mention it on the previous page on this thread, and in a couple of other places. Just the kind of hat store we should support...like you I just discovered it recently. Didn't think to check out the Nostalgia, since I was looking for straws, but...
