    Show us your vintage patterns!

Thanks Kamikat and Lady Day - I had a look through the thread and there were a couple of good suggested links - Decades of Style and the Vintage Pattern Lending Library are two which I'll dig deeper into. I do remeber Folkwear patterns and another place called Campbells from over 10 years ago...

    Show us your vintage patterns!

Thanks but I see that most of the information is regarding 40's dress patterns and I specifically need 20's if at all possible. I'll read through the thread but I was also hoping to get information on fabric as well. Perhaps I should post a separate enquiry about fabric?

What is your favorite red lipstick brand/shade?

Ah the quest to find (and keep being able to find) my ultimate red lipstick. My quest started many years ago when I bought Chanel 20 matt at a duty free shop in an airport. This shade was striking. It went with everything, went from day to night no problem and never wore off. I have...

    Leather Jackets

I have seen examples in reproduction Sear's catalogues from the 20's (usually belted) but I'm not sure if there would have been any 'workwear' jackets produced for use during WWI or possibly 'car coats' from 1900 onwards. Anything is possible though!

    Who is Your Beauty Muse?

Yes I am aware of this fact, that doesn't mean she necessarily looks good in her 'natural state' ;-) I regret that I too am a natural blonde and it doesn't do a thing for me either ;-(

21" long hair straight hair how do i get it to look 1940's 50's.

Have you considered plastic? By that I mean a wig or hair piece (fall) that is already curled and won't drop out even in damp weather. I have a suitcase full of them in all shapes, lengths and styles. I also have long poker straight hair and found that you can put it up (or back) in a bun and...

    Who is Your Beauty Muse?

Yes Eva, I can certainly see the influence, you have her smile! By the way it was Sarah who showed me the photos of a very young Ms Von Teese! Both of user recently bought the burlesque book, sarah for the styling, me for the corsetry - not that you need a book about it Miss Lizzy ;-)

    Girdles, Corsets, and Underpinnings

Six on each leg would be a bit of overkill wouldn't it? I don't actually know if 6 was a legitimate style or just a special request by a customer - the photos I saw showed a pale blue satin corset with 6 straps on each leg also in pale blue ruched satin with frilly lace. It was very cute worn...

    Who is Your Beauty Muse?

For me it has to be Gina Lollobrigida in 'Beautiful But Dangerous'. Seeing her in this film first inspired me into corsetry. Just that great scene of her duelling with swords with another woman in all her tight-laced glory, what a role model! Say has anyone see those photo of Ms Von Teese in...

New Remix Playshoes - A Critique

I also purchsed a pair of the Pathway design. I ordered them over the phone and Philip was very helpful about the sizing. Pathway is the only design that comes up large in the Remix range. I usually buy a size 8 from Remix and Philip advised the 7's and yes they are just fine. Most of the...

    Girdles, Corsets, and Underpinnings

I like it as well as a waist cincher for daily wear (that type of garter belt is quite comfortable, in fact.) However, I personally prefer four suspenders; I usually don't have much trouble with keeping my seams neat (I think because I have fairly curvy legs and stockings just don't seem to...
