Hello, folks! Been a while, but I'm back.
Does anyone know where I can find some pics of old U.S. airports and aerodromes, preferably from the 1930's. I need exterior and interior shots for research. If anyone can help, I would truly be grateful.
(It's good to be back in the Lounge :) )
I'm not a big drinker, but I enjoy the occasional beer. Does anyone know what the oldest US beer is that's still being brewed? Pabst Blue-Ribbon? Shlitz Malt Liquor? And what is your brew of choice?
Cheers :cheers1:
Anybody see the Simpsons on this past Sunday? It was the annual Halloween special (a little late?), and it had a War of the Worlds parody entitled "The Day America Was Stupid" (or something similar to that). It set the contemporary characters in 1938 Springfield and showed them, well...
Can anyone recommend any good sites with info and pictures regarding airships, etc? I'm looking for something good and off the beaten path, something I may have overlooked while Google-ing and Wiki-ing the topic. If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.
I'm looking for somewhere online that I can research Miami, Florida in the 1930's, particularly a site with lots of pictures, but plenty of info as well. Can anyone help?
Just curious. Loungers seem to be everywhere, but I haven't seen anyone else who is in the "sunshine state" (that's sarcasm in the quotations, people.:)) Anybody else live in Disney-ville?
Weird thing: my 17 month-old niece (who's totally into hanging out with me and her aunt) is scared of my fedora. She's scared of it when it's on the shelf, and really scared of it when me or someone else wears it. She's not scared of a ball-cap or anything else, and even laughs when her daddy...
Okay, I'm a newbie and can't get the FL search engine to work for me.
Has anyone read The Chinatown Death Cloud Peril yet? I hear it's a treat for pulp fans.
Just watched "The Mummy" (99) again the other day. I was paying attention to the costuming and saw somethings I'd like to know more about.
-Brendan Frasier is wearing some kind of leather wristband on his right arm. A wide leather piece covers the top of his wrist and forearm, and two...
Just wanna share something kinda cool.
A few years ago my mom was yardsale-ing and found an estate sale. It was the estate of a woman named Bobbe Arnst. She bought a bag of magazine clippings and odds and ends because they were from the thirties and forties and she knew I liked that stuff...
Been watching "The Green Hornet" serial lately. I watch one chapter nightly. It's fun for the cheese, it's fun for the retro, and it's a lot easier to take it in installments than all at once. Anybody else do this? And can anyone recommend any good serials? The only other one I have is The...
My first fedora I found at a thrift store. It's a black Cavanaugh, and it's in surprisingly good shape. I've already found out about the "Cavanaugh edge", but now I'm trying to find out how much these things retail for. And is this company still around? Any way to date this thing? I've just...
Anyone know where I can buy (on cd or tape) the few dramatizations of HP Lovecraft's stories that were made? I've only ever heard one (The Dunwich Horror) and it was a surprisingly faithful adaptation as I recall. Any help would be appreciated.
Okay, I've always wondered about this so here goes:
Any video-gamers out there who have played a "golden era" themed game?
I know it's a bit modern for the FL, but I have played several retro games and am always looking for more.
So far I've played:
-Mafia- Grand Theft Auto in the...
I caught it late on AMC one night. Made in 1931, in color, with Fay Wray. Came really close to the "weird menace" pulps in tone. Kinda spooky, in a way.
Can't find it on DVD.
Hi, I'm new here.
I just battled for a whole week with AOL to get here. They don't like their people to come here for some reason. Thanks to MK's help, I have made it.
Just wanna say hello. I found this place because I found a vintage felt fedora (in great shape, all by itself with a...
