Online anonymity lets users get nasty
Another fine example of the decline of western civilization.
MK and the bartenders are a bastion against this sort of behavior and their vigilance has kept this site the most civilized place on the internet. Kudos.
This is about hats, really!
I'm watching Cool Hand Luke on AMC[bad] right now and I noticed something interesting about the way Strother Martin was wearing his Panama.
It's difficult to see in this shot, but let me try to describe it.
His Panama has an "optimo" block, except on...
Another black eye for Taco Bell...
I have to say that something smells VERY fishy here, though. I wouldn't be surprised at all it it turns out to be the work of a prankster or disgruntled employee.
I bought this nice Knox "Player" fedora on eBay because it was listed as a 7 1/2. When it arrived, I found it was actually a size 7.
The hat looks like it has never been worn and comes with a nice cardboard hatbox. The brim is 2 3/8 and the crown is open at the moment, but can be bashed...
Here's my newest lid, courtesy of eBay:
It's a Knox "Player", in black...
...with a nifty ribbon and trolley cord.
...never been worn.
The price? In my hands for about $40.
There's only one...

The size on the BOX is 7 1/2. The size on the...
This is a companion thread to "Your Top 10 TV Shows". What TV shows had the best title theme or song?
Here are my top 10:
Hawaii Five-0 (the hands down winner)
Hill Street Blues
The Sopranos
Mission: Impossible
The Rockford Files
Secret Agent
Taxi
Hogan's Heroes
The Odd Couple...
This started over here in the Hats forum, but it probably should be its own topic.
I'm going to jump right in to where the previous discussion left off...
On the grand scale of injustices done to films, colorization is pretty mild. Films are butchered regularly by studio executives and...
I was the only bidder on both of these hats, a Stetson and a Resistol, both 7 1/2's. Have no idea if they are modern or vintage, but the price was right.
$10 Resistol
$5 Stetson
I'll post pics when they come. This should be interesting.
Well, here it is June, and we're having a Nor'easter here in the NY area. Temp 59 degrees and raining. I've been wearing the Panama for a good solid two weeks now, but today I'm going back to the felt.
Is it true that you folks in San Diego actually get bored with the nice weather?
I have a nice Dobbs Twenty stingy brim fedora in charcoal gray with a black band. It's a perfect size 7 1/2 (60cm), no moth damage, supple leather, complete with trolley cord.
Measurements: Brim: 1 3/4" ; Ribbon: 2"; Crown: 5"
Now, this is a real nice hat in very...
So, I buy this "Limited Edition" hat, there are only ten like it in the whole wide world. I have the hat for one day, I go out to breakfast and, wouldn't you know it, there's a guy wearing the EXACT SAME HAT!
How do you like that?
Here's to you, Art! I hope you get a kick out of this...
All right, the Akubra Squatter donated by Aaron Hats is on its journey to wherever the winds of the Fedora Lounge may blow it.
If it's OK with everyone, please post no comments in this thread, just updates on the hat's journey (and photos) posted by the participants. Thanks!
We start with...
OK, here's mine! Others have posted the details before, so I'll not say anything about the buttery felt, the perfect fit, or the superb workmanship, all of which this hat has in spades.
I know there are a few of you out there from San Diego, so please help me out. I'm going to be vacationing there in the second week of April and I'm trying to limit how much stuff I bring. If I can only bring one hat, would I be better off with a felt hat or a Panama at that time of year...
This thread was suggested in the HATS forum, so I'll start it off:
I'm looking for a vintage light gray (I would call it "dove gray") fedora with a 4-5 inch crown, brim wider than 2 1/2" and a black grosgrain ribbon. Size 7 1/2 or 7 5/8. Will consider a Homburg of the same color...
I have a Knox fedora from, I'm guessing, the early 50's, with a badly dried out and cracked sweatband. Obviously it needs to be replaced.
I'm curious as to whether having a replacement sweatband is going to make a difference in the desirability of this "vintage" hat. It will no longer have...
Just got my Montecristi back from Art, who did a reblock and a ribbon change, and I wanted to share:
Here's the hat when I first got it last September:
I asked Art to make the crown taller, or at least appear taller, I wanted a nicer grade of ribbon, and the hat needed to be adjusted a...
In the early running for the "What were they thinking?" award:
Bud Light, for the spot where the employees are trashing the office. The message: serve Bud Light and a drunken brawl will ensue.
The most bizarre, so far:
Burger King, for the huge production number with the showgirls...
All right, folks, time to get organized! If you're in, or you want in, on the Crazy Hat Idea, please reply to this thread with your name and exact location so we can figure out the best route for the hat's journey. Remember, we're trying to minimize or eliminate the need to ship the hat by...
...can sometimes be your best friend.
I got this Knox fedora with a Buy It Now less than eight hours after it was listed.
It's in almost new condition, looks like it's from the 50's, judging by the plastic under the crown.
It's a size 7 5/8, but it appears to have shrunk...
