A First Hat

So at the moment I don't own a hat, thats one of the reasons that I came upon this forum in the first place. I thought I might ask the memberships thoughts on a hat I am looking at picking up. Yes it is on ebay so I won't link it, but I will post the pictures that are hosted there. This might be for general wearing, but also with a dark blue pin stripped suit of which I am rather proud. I would appreciate any input.

Nice hat Sly, I think it would work well with your suit.

Personally prefer wider brims and thinner ribbons but that aside, you couldn't lose with that Dobbs. Grey seems to be flexible color. Good choice! Welcome to the Lounge!

Welcome to the club...

That's a fine hat, well suited to a dapper dresser. Good brand and looks to be in fine condition. It is a dress hat, so not particularly an every-day kind of lid. For a second hat, you may want to look for a thinner ribbon, with gray or brown being a good choice. Something like a Borsalino, Open Road or Stetson Playboy style is a no-lose.

Good looking hat are you planing to wear it with the brim snap down or up?

Good luck.

I'm not certain really, I think I'll wait until I get it and see what I think. Right now I am leaning towards down.

Some good advice, thank you. I do like the Playboy. However, that being said, I am dressy daily since I am an attorney, so a dress hat is not necessarily something I couldn't wear every day.

Thank you for the kind words and welcomes. I will do a right proper introduction when I can take some pictures of myself properly accoutered(sp?).

Accoutered? By George, you spelled it correctly -- and I didn't even know it could be used like that!
Nice hat, by the way. A bit too conservative for my tastes, but Dobbs was one of the quality manufacturers.
(And I would be more careful about admitting that you're an attorney. I always tell strangers I'm in child porn, myself, as they treat me with more respect than when I tell them I'm a lawyer).

what they said. but don't quote me. very solid choice-now sit back and look at all the others to be seen-I'd advise looking at Marc C's. gallery of hats, and Douglas' rotation thread-an education in hats, free. Welcome to the lounge, friend.
