A little bit of Lancaster

It's been bodge modified, something I intend to correct, but this evening I acquired a R1155A RX. As fitted to Lancasters, Sunderlands, Lincolns and... Some other RAF heavies.

I think this is my first tube comms receiver...

Very nice. One of they guys I worked with (he retired recently) worked on this type of set when he was in the RAF in the 50's. Must show him your photo next time I see him.

According to my pall all you need now is the 1154 transmitter set and you are all fixed up.

It wasn't until the Russians acquired American P-40's and British Hurricanes they even had functionion radios in any of their planes... Amazing..

Nice! I suppose the frequency range is wrong for Radio 4? Listening to the Today Programme or Book at Bedtime on that monster would be something!

HF sets matey, you could be criminal and gut one, putting in modern components though.:eeek:

its been well civilianised hasn't it! Push buttons for the different stations/frequencies. Is it in working order still? I see its got mains and an aerial + socket.
