Autumnal Thoughts........

Picture of said steak, from the last trip.
I had already eaten a bit, so essentially there was another steak close to the same size, on top of the one you see.

It was $24 with tax, 2 sides, and tea. :D

Thanks for the picture GHT. :eusa_doh:

Getting the ingredients for a fall dish (around here) Chili.
Being low carb it will be a lot of meat, and some beans.
Just the opposite of what you usually make.
My wife said "see if you can find a low carb recipe for cornbread."
Oh it's out there, and a Unicorn will be the one guiding me to it. ;)
All that for $24?! I'll take two. :p GHT was just telling us what Autumn is full of. :p Chili---low carb?! You have to be kidding.

Well, when I ordered it, the menu said "medium sirloin."
Uh okay, it WAS lunch and I didn't want the 16oz.
I forgot the chicken fried steak comes out as large as a dinner plate.
Should have made allowances for their scale. :D
I got 3 meals out of it. Lunch, breakfast, and dinner the next night.
That would have just been dinner for me. Man, you must eat cheaply. :p

I can probably find it.
I'm no unicorn though. I don't poop gumdrops or fart rainbows or any of that magical nonsense.

I'll take that steak plate, thanks.

I don't have the ingredients at home, but I can make a low carb cornbread.
As for low carb chili, there is some sugar in the crushed tomatoes, but with pinto beans instead of kidney or black, the count is lower.
Had I been able to find black soy beans, it would have been lower.
I allow about 30 carbs a day, and if I know a meal will contain some, I make allowances.

I love Autumn!

The smell of fallen leaves, bonfires, spiced pumpkin anything, Halloween. Now if we could only skip winter that would be grand.

I grew up in the foot hills of Pa. Entire hill sides would be alive with color this time of year.

If you make it properly, with no beans or tomatoes, chili is naturally very low in carbs.

You mean if you make it wrong.
Oh but what if you make it with bacon?
Then it would be the right way.
Good point Hudson, but we decided on the pinto beans because they are lower than anything else we could find at the time.
Still very good though.

Enjoying the Autumn temps, but not the leaves starting to fall.
If only I had enough glue to keep them up there.
However, I do have an idea to one day get movie prop trees.
Then you don't water them, or rake the leaves.

The official acceptance of Autumn here is the lighting of the wood stove because of the chill in the air...there's just a certain smell that announces "Autumns here!"! (And seeing as we don't have a heater, the stove firing up is needful!)
I know, I know, it's probably dust bunnies burning but it's the official announcement this cottage ;)
